Not Being Able To Blink Getting You Down?

Come in and learn young one...
Blink has got to be one of the most unused weapon (weapon? skill? ability?) In NS... possibly the most underused weapon in half life history.

Sure there is not much time till 2.0, but you can always try to use the old blink before setteling up to the new one.

First thing, go set up a lan server put some cheats on and go Fade... Remember everytime you try to blink at least try to crouch, but crouch jumping seems to have the best effects. That has been said many times, but what people DONT DO... is remember WHERE they aimed when they blinked sucessfuly. Try to get down some patterns around the level of your choice, try to remember where your aiming down what corridor when blink works the way you wanted it to. We all heard practice makes perfect, and this is especially true with blink.

If you have any other "uber "elite"" tips for those that are not gifted with blink... plz leave some.

You can get to where Skulks can hide at hives [IE top ledges in Refinery,Bast]

And you can Blink across corridors if you just crouch and point your crosshair at the center of the wall, might not work all of the time but it's better than just blinking and doing nothing

And you can Blink through some doors like in Eclipse(all the doors are not blink proof) makes for some nice suprise attacks if you coordinate well with your buddies locked bown in the other hive

And when falling from high places, blink towards the floor, just make sure there's not any fancy decorations likes pipes when you are aiming or you'll get stuck!

And when you've refined your skills, you can blink to vents and sneak through like a Skulk, but of course there's the possibility of getting stuck in a wall :/

oh yea... before you go Swipe/blink only, make damn sure there is a /stuck plugin, and have that bound to a key close at hand.

For hallways I usually crouch just before I blink, but I don't aim straight ahead, I am a bit up since it gives you enough space to drop down but not get hurt. Works better for me personally.

In order to blink through/into an object, I believe you have to be at least a certain distance away from it.

blink is amazing, i use it all the time the best is when u jump like 100 ft where any alien or marine would die without a jp or skulk u blink one more time and ur on the ground! No death AND! ou saved 54 res AND only wasted alittle bit of adrenaline!

Tbh, I thought blink was removed and replaced by metabolize?

but then again, there have been so many changelogs, I don't bother to read them anymore...

Blink is still a fade ability, though they really changed it. You apparently become invisible and unhittable, and move very fast. I don't think gravity will affect you either, kind of like noclip only you can still hit the walls. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it is definitely new and improved.

Blink is now a second hive fade ability, that can best be described as the old blink minus stuck in walls, minus instant leap between 2 points (you just run really fast into it), plus it truly makes you "fade" in and out.

You can jump and blink in the air as before, except now, you can sorta stop where you want in midair, due to the fact that the blink is incremental and you can change direction mid-blink.

Really, there's nothing to describe it, short of actually doing it. I think the people that love the old blink will approve of the new one, as well as people who couldn't figure out how to blink at all.

As for that "chamber" in the picture, it's merely a plant model in the map ns_origin.

    [EDIT]
As far as I know, you can still get shot, midblink. From the marine view, it's a pain to aim. From the alien side, I can't really confirm it from the fade side due to the fact I'm a fan of regen.

Personally I aim a little higher on the walls than my fades head would be. Crounching helps if the ceiling is not so high. Never blinked inside vents, dont know about that, but you can blink instead of using lifts or ladders by blinking and moving forward. But the tip that helped me blink was really: Blink where your head would be if you were standing there.

    @thoron
That is no defensive chamber mate! Thats a nice decoration plant Cadaver put on his map ns_origin.
