I'm having trouble staying connected in games. I'm fine in the lobby, but when i pick a team, My loss jumps and i overflow.

My comp is new, and i am on a router, i have no issues with any of the other mods, VS-DOD-CS, anyway, My cl_updaterate is 20, cl_cmdrate is 20, and i'm on cable so my rate is 9999, I have been up and down the chain with all these commands and my issue continues. More to the point of my problem.

I can join servers just fine, And in the waiting room i have no problems, When i join a team, It starts, Sometimes i get in smooth as silk, others i lag for 10 seconds, and when i get in (i run net_graph 3) In the bottom right corner i see Loss at 26 or greater, The problem doesnt happen all the time, But i have yet to finish a map without beign booted with an accompanying message stating that i have overflowed. Any ideas on this or need to know more? Let me know plz, i am spazing over this.

Ns is beign a pain in the butt.

Are you using a linksys router? There is a known problem with these routers and half-life that causes problems like yours. It can be fixed with a firmware update.

If you having problems with only Natural Selection, but the other mods are working fine. My first throughts would be to uninstall Nautral Selection and then reinstall it. If the problem happens again i would recommend redownloading the modification from a different location then you got it from before. If the problem still occurs with the newly downloading mod, then problem may lay somewhere on your computer. If you have a firewall turn it off. Make sure you have nothing running in the background when your playing. Sometimes these effect the way the game is played.

Sometimes the problems are so small you don't notice them and there right under your nose.

Yeah, i have a linksys router, where do i get this firmware update you are talking about?

Yeah, i reinstalled half life so much my cd shattered. So i ordered a new one thru circut city, Gotta wait for it to arrive.

BTW ul on the CD shattering, that happens when you put an old CD in the new 50x CD drives everyone has these days. The old CD's can't handle it. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'>

If you've already paid for HL then you have a CD Key, all you need is a copy of HL which you can get off kazaa or something without breaking any laws cos you already bought the game.

The firmware helped but not much, I now last about twice as long before i freeze or get booted and whatnot. Any other ideas?

Remove your router to see if it's the problem. If it is, there are a few other things I saw in a the official cs forums that might work.

Cable Modem.
My friends was causing all sorts of problems.. he could barely stay connected..
He could only connect once out of like 50 tries

Call up your ISP, get them to check out your modem + lines

I've called my cable company 4 times in the past 6 months to make sure they aren't giving me the shaft. Don't use rate 9999 though. I'm on 1.5Megabitpersec cable and I use 7500. Cl_updaterate 30 and Cl_cmdrate 40 I THINK.

Did they actually come out and check the lines + modem
See if you can find a forum about them on dslreports.com (for all broadband, not just dsl)
