Note: Entities And Leaks

so nobody will waste time on it as i did
Many would maybe - as i did - make the roof in some places to func_seethrough to help some commandermode problems. Its best to avoid but if you cant remember to place sky-boxes outside covering the func_seethrough since its an entity and the compiling tools then gives you errors about leaks out to the void.

Second never place entities like func_nobuild (if commanders are abusing to build in some areas where they shouldnt) that just touches the void. It crashes HL at round start.

Just a little note to mappers that didnt know this.

It's not something I or any other 'experienced' mapper would do, but nice of you to inform the others.

I thought i was an experienced mapper but the NS entity system is new for me so i didnt realize that my roof was a func_seethrough. Is there any better solution to make the commander minimap work correctly in such areas?

You don't have to make the 'roofs' a func_seethrough. You just have to tie the details (like overhanging pipes, support beams or whatever) to them and you're set. The minimap will work correctly even without the func_seethroughs.

And if you haven't already, here's some help.

Not on my map.. I could build on the roofs and not on the ground.. May be because im making a gimmick map with heights and slides and such.

Make sure you have all the necessary info_maps and other entities in your map. See the above link. Good luck!

Ok, I understand that you have two layers of roof, but what do you need them for exactly? Is it really possible to look onto the roof as player (not comm)?
