Any magazine review that gives an abomination like Desert Combat 5 stars, regardless of how it rates other games, is not worth anyone's attention.

That being said I'd love to see a scan of The Edge article. from what I understand, they are the UK equiv of CG and very reputable...

DC having 5 stars is a tab bit crazy. I played DC for a while, and it was fun, but it got rather old rather fast. Some things in DC are just plain kickass, like having a blackhawk pick you up and away, or doing a flyby in a jetplane, but it is hardly worthy of 5 stars. I like the way I saw it -- one short of CS, equal to DoD.

okay that writer hasnt palyed comm much thats why its 3 stars, he thinks you only build your base, oh and he hasnt played aliens apparently. so w00t w00t, JUST MARINES gets 3 stars, we have a six or seven star game here folks.

What the hell was the reviewer talking about? did he even play the game? give me the guys e-mail so i can kindly tell him that he's talking out of his nether regions here.

I'm still bitter from Desert Combat winning Gamespy Mod of the year over NS.

DC is just battlefield whith jets and helecoters and stupidly big guns which add nothing to gameplay. I used to play dc and normal bf but then got sucked in by ns and never even looked back...

I used to subscribe to Edge. At the beginning, it was very good. Stylish, fair, and on the ball. However, over time, it's gone downhill. Nowadays, it's the gaming industry's equivilant of "movie critics", as in those who specialise in being utter snobs. As soon as the feature sections become more interesting and important than the (p)review sections, you know a gaming magazine's crashed.

just a little thing, but i've noticed PC Zone and PC Gamer using a lot of NS screenshots recently. Not like, major articles and such, but just little ones in the software/hardware sections. I mean, when you see Deus Ex in one shot, and Natural Selection right next to it, being shown as equals... yay!

to be fair tho, stuck up as edge is, it really batters the competetion who seem to only cater to 12Y/Os who cant get through an article if it doesnt feature a selection of random rendered pics of the game characters and the obligatory half naked women.
