I don't know if you have heard of <a href='http://www.cofr.net/' target='_blank'>CoFR</a> but it is a community for mature gamers of all gaming persuasions. We've run different HL mod servers for about 4 years now and we enforce our particular rules according to our <a href='http://www.cofr.net/constit.asp' target='_blank'>constitution</a> and our <a href='http://www.cofr.net/servers.asp' target='_blank'>server rules</a>.

Over the years we have collected a rather impressive amount of WONID's that are now banned from all our resources. The majority of these WONID's are automatic bans by different cheat programs or imported* from a select few banlists associated with anti-cheat software (punkbuster for example). Several thousand of them are however banned by our admins, or myself, for breaking our rules.

The banlist consists of 18 200 WONID's at the moment. I am now checking if anyone is interested in getting it from me. Bear in mind, you may not agree with the reasons for the bans and in that case this list is not for you.

We ban for a lot of things that aren't bannable offenses on other servers, such as excessive swearing, racist remarks, flaming and other anti-social behaviour, not just blatant cheating. Of course we also ban for exploits.

The vast majority of server owners will probably not be interested and I don't blame them, to each his own and all that. If someone however is interested in this list let me know and I'll make it available.

Again, it is NOT a list of cheaters only, I think of it more as a jackass-filter. You or your favorite player may very well be on the list if you have ever been caught cheating or if you've been behaving badly on a CoFR resource.

* All imports are from the "safe" period of anti-cheat softwares, ie: when there were no faulty detections.

Your server's are respected for their well admin'd environment as much as anything else, so anyone you seem unfit to play there was probably banned for a good reason. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'>

While I'd love to get a list that size of hackers, exploiters, base sellers and so on, the fact that some people in the list are banned purely for swearing (which I personally don't ban for) means I can't justify using it.

Keep up the good adminning though, and I'm sure servers with the same rules as you have will make good use of this good resource!

This would benifit us, but i only request that they are labeled for offense because i don't want to ban someone for "cussing" or something silly. Exploits are bannable...but depends on the exploit.

Just use your minds, guys. The best policy is to ban only for offenses YOU KNOW TOOK PLACE. No offense to COFR but they have been known to ban good players because of hack-ussations. I wouldn't trust any admin but yourself.

That banlist amazes me,
I have never seen a ban list like that, how long have you been using it?
The reason im so amazed is I run many games and the longest ban list is <20 bans lol.

If you want to be unbanned you can just go to our forum <a href='http://www.cofrfps.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=17' target='_blank'>here</a> and explain your situation and we will cheak it out <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

And yes, I guess we are a newbie server in some regards, for example that we do not allow people to flame and bash others for not living up to their standards.

SuperBob, the ban list was started 4 years ago, and when you run 10 or so HL based server for that long the list grows and grows and grows.

Nice, I tend to lose ban lists, I do have a global ban list but that only has a couple of entrys. ( For people trying to brute force RCON mainly <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'> )

As has been said it is insanely easy to be banned from their servers, I have not been since usually I swear in voice chat and then quickly apologize, but I have a friend who was banned for swearing 3 times in one sentence (autoban). He was unbanned shortly thereafter, but just think if someone grabs the banlist at a certain time and all of a sudden some decent people who made a simple mistake are suddenly banned everywhere that takes the list. Btw it is a very solid server talent wise pretty much midrange but has a great community of fun players. Griefers are quickly dealt with so you can usually guarantee a good playing experience.

Well I agree with Turkey, it *is* by common standards 'insanely' easy to get banned from the server, and I help run it! That being said, it's the way we want it. Turkeys friend got banned but was mature enough to come to us and apologised, so we lifted it. We always give people a second chance if they act mature about it.

Having said that I think you all missed a pretty important point that I have brought up several times now:

<b>The server does not export its banlist</b>

People banned from FR31NS do not end up on the banlist, at least not right now. This is because we enforce harsher rules on this server then our other HL mods, simply because NS is so much more social and so much more dependant on teamplay.

But yes, there are probably a LOT of people on the list that would never get banned on a regular server. TK in spawn (CS/DoD) or excessive swearing may not warrant a ban on other servers. This is why I don't recommend people to download the banlist UNLESS they have a very low tolerance for that sort of thing on their server. If you think the occasional TK or outburst of profanities is ok, then by all means do NOT use the list.

I don't want all the servers in the world to be run like ours, I just want to give people that DO want to run their servers like our a way to not have to go through banning all these people themself. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>
