as i recal the faq's dont tell about a bob. a bob is the level 1 of 5 level aliens. they have wierd name

bob is the <span style='color:red'>communtiy</span> name for <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bob.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bob:'> but the others are pretty much fan made but tiny is <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tiny.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':tiny:'> pugy <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pudgy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pudgy:'> flyie (batty flier) is obviously the one that flys and blinky is lvl4 the one that can blink through walls

(just making sure no one though the name was official)

yeah the official name is "level 1" but its so much easier to type/say (on voice comm) "bob" that i don't think the name will go away, ever :)

In game for most, the only nickname that really comes naturally is bob (for me anyway). I have never heard blinky or pudgy or tiny used in game, soemtimes I and other pts use flyer though. I guess it depends on the person. Personally, if its not bob and I have to warn my team that someones coming, i just type "5" or "lvl5" etc . . BOB, however, will never be replaced. That is exactly what i was thinking. I have heard of <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pudgy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pudgy:'> called a builder on numerous occasions, but never pudgy. I propose a new name for the <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pudgy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pudgy:'> : Pudgy Builder. This is a far better name than either "pudgy" or "builder". It easily identifies the <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/pudgy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pudgy:'> for both its size and its purpose. It is also more politically correct than Fat Construction Worker.

I was under the impression that it was taken out because it was a stupid name, and that it will soon enough be given a quick and painful death. Don't expect to refer to 'bob' in any random NS server and expect that people will know what you mean. There aren't even 1000 forum members here, and much fewer than that are actually regulars. Personally, I expect a much larger player base than that, and saying 'bob' will only illicit 'what?'s.

Oh, and I hate the name 'bob'.

'Bob', 'Tiny', 'Blinky', etc - they're all temporamental names generated by people suffering from Flayritis and just really want to play NS. They're stupid names and its sad that their use has escalated so much.

I confess to having used it many times, but for the sole reason that the alien levels NEED names. In much the same way that a prisoner stuck in a cell with only 1 sock needs a friend, and makes a hand puppet.

Once the official alien names are released, anyone refering to the aliens with their facile names will be scorned as an imbecile.

umm i was there when moleculor told the idea of bob <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> but i had a different nick, and i wasnt a regular member........
anyways... bob is a stupid name, but its better than sayin level 1..... <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> when theres an official name most of the ppl will call the level 1 alien for that name, offcourse there will always be some ppl that is goin to call him bob......... but anyways..... its like the gorilla warfare in cs... ppl keeps calling him rambo.... I don't think Flayra has stopped all coding just to think up new names. He'll just keep coding with place holders until one day he screams, "Eureka," (is that spelled right?) or someone gives him a great idea.
