2.0 Lerk Feedback?

how is it now?
Well I've read tons of debate in the beta forums about the skulk, gorge, fade, and onos.... but none about the lerk since the bite/spore issue. I'm wondering if its even used anymore. Is it fun? is it viable? how much of a role does it play in alien strategy? Please don't turn this into a save/**** the lerk bite thread. I'm a hardcore lerk biter and I'm gonna miss it, but i just want to hear about the 2.0 lerk from vets/pt's thanks.

It's a support class, but plays much better as one IMO. And they are an absolute beast to kill; they excel at hit-and-run harassment tactics. Even though spores do not stack any more, a lerk can fill the length of a corridor with them and send marines around the other way. I would say the new non-stacking spores add a skill element to them.

I miss bite a little, but not enough that I mind terribly. Spikes are a decent weapon, and since the lerk is definitely a support class, it will attract players who are content to spore and umbra for their teammates.

Honestly I think it is great, I was always a spiker when I lerked, so I obviously don't miss bite that much. But regardless, the 2.0 lerk is so much more versatile than the 1.0x lerk. You would be hard pressed to find a situation where having a lerk would not be an assest.

I think I'm beginning to notice a trend appearing with these threads...

I agree with everything coil said except this. Most of the games I've seen, once you penetrate the spore stack.. its pretty easy to kill the lerk.

The 2.0 Lerk is not the same 1.04 Lerk as far as position goes, It's a meaner, more needed class now then ever. JP/HMG rushing still exist and whose going to stop them? A Fade? An Onos? I think not, Skulks can try till their hearts desire but what it comes down to is, Lerks are the best Anti Air defence period.

They are what herds the marines to going specific routes, and assisting aliens at a long range. But they are weak enough to get owned if the Marine is determined. That's where skill comes into play, it's not a Fly in, bite, run. It's knowing when to fight and run. I think people will be very pleased with the 2.0 lerk, as it is an extremely powerful asset and a MUST to any team that clearly wants to suceed.

I really dont think a lerk can do much do a jetpacker but try to umbra. Spores are pitiful now, so the only thing left is spike, and unless you can spike and dodge bullets, your dead. Acid rocket is where its at.

Yea 1-hive lerk is basically defensive, ok for preventing early game rushing, sieges. Can't really lock off a coridoor anymore but they can be a pain in the **** for a marine team that's trying to advance.

It's normally played by sporing from a corner, retreating, sporing again as marines advance, etc.

Umbra as a 2 hive support ability is just as potent as ever. Primal scream is extremely strong, but has a much shorter suration than 1.04.

IMO, i love the lerk bite..and the reason why? AIR KILLS! Intercepting a JP marine in the air and killing him with bite...its like whiping your **** with silk ...since the spikes are different in 2.0 i'll see how it really is when i play it before i say "that sux" cause im sure one way or another i'll get used to it..heh i'l have to if i wanna lerk.

I'm a hard-core biter as a lerk. Few things are more satisfying than timing your flight properly and biting marine?s heads off. :-P I'll miss it, but perhaps I'll learn to adapt.

I've found lerk to be my most powerful class in 1.04. :-D Ask me how long it has been since I've played as a fade.

I frequently get the most or pretty close to the top in kills using the lerk by the end of the game.

This is not to say that I am playing for kills - I lend assistance to the team / hive whenever possible. (Umbraing hives / fades, etc.)

Spores dont go through walls anymore, you cant stack Spores, there is no more bite.
Whats are the damage levels for Spikes and Spores now, a side from the new Umbra projectile, it sounds like they Butchered the LERK!

What about flying, in 1.04 with out adrenalin the lerk could barly stay in the air let alone get in a spicking dog fight with a JP, have the energy requirments for the lerks actions been lowerd or have they stayed the same
     all the way

spores cant stack, but they can spam. The point its not to make a 50hp/s trap in the middle of a corridor... the point is to have that lmg take another way. Spore a corridor and spike from behind a corner.

i'm a lerk fan, i will miss bite but now Lerk is The support class.

They reduced the energy consumption of fliying to .04 per flap from 0.06 or something, anyway you can fly for longer now and even spike and stay in the air.

I think they should add some more movements for the lerk, like some key that makes it go lower (annoying to wait until you're flying low enough to get trough the door - especially when you're fleeing from a marine)

Not sure if this works at all, but have you tried crouching?

Did they change the actual flying of the lerk? They changed the jetpack's dynamics. Anything different about the lerk? Other thank it uses less energy?

From what I've seen from the changelogs and such, that's pretty much it.
