<div class="IPBDescription">ARGHHH!!!</div> Ok, here is the deal.

I have these three cookies for natural-selection.org that just WONT GO AWAY!! its for the fourms though. i used the delete cookies set by this fourm at hte bottem of this page, i used tools/internet options deleted all cookies, history...and i even used explore (by the start menu, right click) and deleted all the cookies manualy. THEY ARE STILL THERE...can somone help PLEASE?!

    Why do you want them gone? They allow you to stay logged into the forums without having to put in your name and password on every single page or every time you want to post something...

    They wont go away (I think, I don't actually know but theoretically, the logic is sound) because they're reset everytime you access the site.

    You perhaps clicked on "Track this topic" option on 3 different topics long ago. As soon as you return, it probably remakes the cookie every time you return. Just my guess, but no idea who to eliminate them. I'm pretty sure Comprox might know how though....

    How about realize this has nothing to do with deleting the cookies. He can delete the cookies just fine. They just reset everytime he logs on because he's tracking certain threads.

    Okay, I just looked at my cookies for this in <a href='http://www.mozilla.org' target='_blank'>Mozilla</a>
    Here are the names:

    2 of those, topicsread and session_id go away when I close my browser (at the end of the session) the other 2, member_id & pass_hash are used to store the auto-login data
    If you are really paranoid, disable cookies, or (I dunno if you can do this with other browsers) prevent the site from setting cookies on your computer

    My solution would be to use <a href='http://www.mozilla.org' target='_blank'>Mozilla</a>, its alot more secure then IE, and its open source.. so you know exactly what it is doing (if you can program)

    The only cookies you have any reason to even worry about are 3rd party ones. Moz & IE can both block 3rd party cookies IIRC.

    Tools\Internet Options\Privacy. Set the slider to whatever level you like. Setting to the top will block all cookies.

    You know, I used to think you could disable cookies with IE, too. Then I actually tried. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Every single time I applied a hotfix or SP, IE felt a need to re-enable cookes and mess with settings. After a few tries of that, I gave up. It was awfully annoying.

    It was actually crap like that that pushed me to Opera in the first place. I have friends that went to Mozilla for the same reasons.

    Opera: disable cookies in 2 keystrokes: "F12, c." Done!

    I rest my Elitist case.

    (In case anyone hasn't noticed, I'm really joking around here. I'm not really serious. Hence the constant elitist references.     Let me get this straight. You can see the cookies in Windows Explorer but it will not let you delete them? Or, when you delete them, the next time you look they are there again?
