<div class="IPBDescription">mt first map (Fun map)</div> This is my first map that i think is worth releasing. its a fun map with two bases and a bridge across the middle (tfc 2fort style) and a derailed hl tram in the middle.

If ne1 has any comments they are welcome but please rememver that this IS my first map so please no nitpicking.

    Hmm, is there any purpose to the rocks on the bridge (Where the hell did they come from?) or the "thing" underwater?

    Suggestions: shorten bridge, use the space you got to enlarge marine base, make tram stick out of water abit.Also, add a vent from inside the alien base to the marine side of the bridge(not onto the bridge), add some walls around and inside(especially resource area) the alien base that can be used as cover n' stuff.

    Fear not they are in the works. They just take a lot more time then the fun maps do to create.

    i dunno why the r speeds and fps r so poor on some pcs does ne1 know how i can improove it to make it more public friendly?

    As for funmaps:

    There's quite a lot of maps in the making, but they take so long to make a detailed, good looking, balanced etc etc map.

    The alternative is to make a fast, fun alternative map which is a break from the norm.

    Look at tfc, there's hundreds and hundreds of different style maps out for it, DM maps, concmaps, golf maps, good old frogger, pacman... Allsorts!!!

    It's not a leak, it's a lack of vis-blockers. From any given point you can see most of the rest of the level (with the exception of the readyroom). That combined with the scaled down textures and the high-poly thing at the bottom of the lake leads to bad r_speeds.

    if i scaled up all the textures would that improove the speed?
    do lighting effects effect it?
    would shrinking the level or taking out the tran improove speed? (last resort)
    i realy would like to release a fully playable version

    ah no please don't release it. Some advice from an experienced mapper (not me): Do NOT release your first 3 maps or so, the are not as good as you might think. You need to learn how to choose textures, add detail to walls, create visblockers & use the hint texture, make maps balanced, add sounds, set up propper lighting, change func_water to transparent. Also you have to consider that water of that size with waves is not improving your r_speeds. You could make it transparent. It would look better and be worth the r_speeds. Oh and learn that r_speeds are the same on every PC <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Just look at ns_siege. This funmap runs better and looks much better than your map. As soon as you find out why you should create a new map. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
    Sorry, I thought that had to be said. First map = bad in general.

    erm yes, well done you've obviosly learnt a lot but I fail to see how this map could be fun... I'm with Norn on this. Please people if you're going to do 'fun' maps make them fun but I'd rather see a proper map. This kind of map is really for TFC.

    Can u go to ns world and re- download it please as it has been optimised and has much better r_speeds.
    and cud u please let me know whether it runs well or not so i know whether more optimisation is needed or not

    Much better, we played 3 games on your map today and had allot of fun. Real dark in the "under Marine base" but other than that no complaints. Not the best FUN map but good.

    Sorry its not good enough for the map rotation. But tell any admin that your the mapper and he will change to your map after the game being played is finished.

    Come on lads, dont be too harsh on him.

    As he said, its only his second map. I played the tests of his first map, and saw how he progressed. Afaik, hes still in the learning stages - although hes moving along quite quickly - bout a week and half for those 2 maps (took me atleast a month to get to the stage hes at, and now ive forgotten it all <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->).

    Anyway, snake, ive not played ya latest version yet - is it on server? coz i wouldnt mind playing it with a few people - see how it plays, rather than just walking around taking a look at it. If not, youll have to get Hav to email it to Kammy (ftp's been changed, dont think Hav knows it).
