If I can get one hell of a lot of replies to this, with NO or LITTLE repeats in the same people, then we can force them to.

I mean, for lord sakes, PLANETSIDE is going on the CPL. Just cause its got like what, a few thousand people? WE HAVE SEVERAL THOUSAND.

BTW, if NS goes CPL, clans won't matter.

We'll probably all get drafted, and arranged into totally new teams.

This seems like a REALLY bad idea to me, not only am I highly sceptical about your ability to force the CPL to accept NS because we all posted saying it should be in the CPL, but it also seems very silly to try and force NS into CPL if it isn't ready yet.

You're going about it the wrong way. Don't be too eager to jump into this at this time.

I've said it before..

There are MANY ways to try to get a game accepted by the CPL administration... But only one or two of them will even get you close.

Just wait and be patient. This is something I do plan on working on (with A LOT of help from the community and Flayra) once I see that NS could support such an endeavor.

Unless the community is supportive of such efforts and open minded about the process... and extremely patient... Then a lot of effort will be wasted....

So for now... Just wait.

After reading their website, I have the impression CPL prefers spectator sports, i.e. games that are exciting to watch. Is that how they earn money?

If that's true, neither DoD nor NS will have much of a chance. Too much camping/building. RTSs won't make it either. Perhaps they should rename to Counterstrike Professional League.

Dude Xzilen did you even read the thread?
Perhaps notice the several times people said "Cyberathlete Professional League"?
Maybe all the times the URL was posted?
And even if you did notice those things and just somehow couldn't put 1 and 1 together, google up CPL. It's the first result.

Good lord. Soon we shall be a race of helpless butterbeasts, tended by robotic servants who shovel nutrients into our gaping maws and harvest the resulting manure in which to grow new crops. Soon after that, of course, they'll wise up and put us out of our collective misery.

Sure, but if someone is to make a post about a league of some form, should not the poster in the orginal statement let people know what it is he is talking about?

Ok, now to respond to a few peoples posts-

1. FLAYRA POSTED! w00t. I'm important. Yay. j/k

2. NS is a VERY good spectator sport. It gives the feel of a strategy heavy game, while at the same time it feels like its moving VERY fast. Simply switching which team your watching will take you from a bit of boringness to action again, and if boring ever starts again, action will come in...again. NS isn't boring to watch, and anyone that has seen the EUvsUS matches can agree with me to that...not to mention, I've watched some random pub matches, and even THEY seemed exciting...maybe its just that I'm obsessed with and would do anything for NS, but hey, there has to be others like me.

3. I personally, don't see this as forcing, just SHOWING HEAVILY that there is a BIG demand for this. If a big enough demand comes in, we could go CPL, and CS could have a competitor. And in the process, NS would also get more popular. And as we all know the good and bad of that, we still want NS to go CPL, cause its the kind of game CPL was made for.

BTW, comon, we need more people saying that they'd be in line to sign up if it ever came.

And just to let you guys know, I wasn't planning on having it be for 1.04, especially being that 2.0 is just over the horizon.

I'm all for joining the CPL, but to do so we need many more players. so be nice to newbies and recrute your friends

Once 2.0 comes out and is balanced out for everyone, I think it would be a great idea. I think the game needs a little bit larger following for it to be successful in CGL.

NS on CPL is important and will give all the ns communities a boost
• FrikkFrikk Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 3164Members, Constellation
You guys realize that this is a lan correct? That this would basically require the majority of the competitive clans to field teams and send them down to Texas at the same time? The game/community is just not ready for that. Othell is the person the most capable of telling you if it'll work or not. Listen to him.

Erm, maybe we should try to restrict replies to people who have some experience in league play (I do!). If you don't know how NS leagues and clans function (in general, not in gameplay. that will be quite different in 2.0), I don't understand how you can contribute to any informed dialog. No offense, it's just a practical matter.

Ask the people who know me and you'll realize my avatar is perfect.....

Anyways....

Quaunaut,

There is not as big of a demand for NS at the CPL as you want to believe... And having a demand, no matter what the size, is only a small part of actually getting it accomplished.

Whoever said something about actually getting the teams to Dallas... You do not even know the problems involved with that... Gah!! ... Bad memory....

Now back to the shadows I go.....

After watching the USvs.EU match, it looks like it would be entertaining to watch professional matches. But, you'd need guy like Flayra to explain what strats and other things the teams are doing during the game; sorta like the Mexican fans of Hockey down in Texas(I think it's Texas), they like watching the sport, but most of the time they don't know whats going on and need the commentator to explain.

Games where the continents best go head to head would be a PLUS.

I don't know much about cpl, but I know matches are fun to watch.

O dear, another Vet on a power trip...

Without the general populous to back NS it isn't ever going to be at the CPL. The CPL keeps itself afloat on the size of its fanbase. As everyone has said, until the CAL leagues hot up so there actually is a reasonable fanbase, NS ain't going. The only way a under-supported game is going to go is with cash. Halo goes because it is (probably) funded, same way that I suspect UT2003 was, NS is not. If you want to give good ol Flay' the opportunity to Pay NS's way, go donate to constellation (couple of million dollars should suffice...). Don't get me wrong I wish it could go, but NS must walk (CAL) before it runs (CPL). All the best - Tink
