<div class="IPBDescription">of the turrets model?</div> How does the turret chamber the bullets from the belt if the belt is going into the back of the turrets head? <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->

*mutters to self* just a game, just a game, just a game

Anyways, I'd think the bullets were "created" inside the box below the actual firing mechanism, and that the belt fed it up to it. But the "unlimited ammo from nano sludge in the air" was already shaky enough that I decided I didn't need an excuse for why the turrets do what they do, or how the aliens build structures twice their size. That's just me, though.

So there's no possible way the feed mechanism inside that receiver could be shifting the rounds 90 degrees into the chamber? No possible chance at all? Shouldn't you be focused more on the fact that after firing for about 3 seconds that thing should be out of ammo?

It's a combination of MonsE's and Skydancer's explanations - actually, the nanites pull the bullets from the belt, perform a short operetta using them as makeshift props, then pop them into the firing chamber.

All right , I have a theory about TSA turrets.

They're not like HL sentries or similar automated machineguns. In fact , they're not firearms , strictly speaking.
To make sure they stay reliable and work in a hostile environment (including biting skulks and bile bombarding) , they were added conductive wires on their surface. The belt does not contain bullets , but strong cables linking the moving turret head to its base , which receives the power supply of the turret factory from ground nano-networks.
The firing tubes have polarized ends catching magnetized nanosludges floating around the turret factory. The heat and electric potential make them polymerize instantly , forming bullets ready to be fired. Once they reach the solid state , nano heaters are activated inside the firing tubes , changing the remaining air into plasma , ejecting the bullets with a small detonation. Heat sinks rapidly as cold sludges enter the firing tubes , ect.

Depending on the type of ammo and the function of the firing mechanism, it's perfectly feasible for the shells to do a half-bootlegger before getting locked in the chamber to fire. Cumbersome, and probably not the most efficient method, but perfectly feasible.

Heck, the FN P-90 5.7x28 ammo does a 90 spin to line up with the firing mechanism as it exits the mag. And that's a real gun.

It is not an ammo belt per se. The entire turret-mechanism is simply a prison for tiny lerks. The belt builds up an electro-static charge with zaps the said imprisoned midget-lerk which then fires midget-spikes in anger at anyone that happens to be facing the turret.

    This ends today's lesson...time for medication now. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->

Hey I found the official document on turrets! I shows every single info you need! It even explains why turrets run unrealistically!

*Opens document and begins reading aloud.*

Says here the turret was designed and created in a modelling program by Beaner. Then the turret's attributes was programmed into a <b>game</b> called Natural Selection by Flayra. Apparently the turrets can not be used in the real world since Flayra made sure the weapons were only virtual and that this entire thing was just a <b>game</b>. Well what do you know? I thought I finally found turrets that can do unrealistic things! Turns out they only exist in the virtual world! <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

The turrets don't actually fire bullets, they simply flash as if they did... and then the aliens are trained to play dead so the marines don't feel bad. It's all in fine print at the bottom of the readme.

Has anyone else ever thinked that firing a bullet creates a force in the opposite direction of the firing range. The tripod of the turret is so small that <b>unless</b> it's welded into the ground, the turret should fall down after a few bullets <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Explanation is very good except I'd just say superheating the air.

Unless they had a massive magnetic field in there the plasma (which is in fact a cloud of delocalised ions) would probably dissolve the turret (Its hot!) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

The same could be said about the HL turrets. And they had an even longer barrel, which would suggest a higher bullet velocity (and, therefore, more kinetic energy and more force).

Then again, the HMG is "recoil-less" - why shouldn't the turrets be as well?

Oh, I didn't mention that what *should* happend when an onos is playing with a turret. They must be wery well welded into the ground because they don't fall.... :O

Taking a closer look to the turret i found out that its volume is absolutely empty.
Seems like its hull is incredible thin and its volume is filled with air.
    Same with the tf.
    what a strange tecnology.
