<div class="IPBDescription">New Textures and New Locations</div> Been doing some work on Altair recently. Got textures from ns_remix wad by wrongwaygoback. I'll start off with a new shot of the marine spawn (Which I have also enlarged from the last build).

    Here is the new beta version. I would like to make sure yall know, nano factory is just connected to hydroponices right now for testing purposes. I still have plenty of coridors to work on. I just wanted feedback on the new additions and textures. I also know the textures repeat a lot right now. I'll be fixing that soon.

    I wouldn't think of it looking like the Alien movies. I will add more battle damage as I move closer to the final versions when I know how my r_speeds are and how much more detail I can add.

    i find the shots look great but try to cange the water texture to Relic25 one it will look 50 times better. Name of the texture is something like "stag" so look for it.

    I don't like the second shot, but the rest look really good. I think to retain the ns feel with those clean textures you're going to have to make the lighting extra dramatic. Oh, and a second on changing that water texture. Make it transparent too.

    Looking in worldcraft to change the water texture now. I also have plans on changing the power core to look more dramatic. I though I had done a decent job with some of the lighting but I guess I could make them more dramatic. Keep the suggestions comming. Without good suggestions, how could I make my map better?

    Edit: changed the water in Worldcraft. It's funny how something can be oblivious (to me the mapper) but so obvious (to yall, who are viewing my work). Please be easy on the infestation. I know it still looks jagged and straigt but I'm still working on it.

    the new water looks awesome, try adding some debris on the ground though, cuz in that last pic and skulk on the ground across the room would get wasted by pistols.

    I wonder what the impact of this straight water borders will be on the visibility of skulks that stand there. Can they still move along there without being too visible. er, what I wanted to say is, I like the textures. I get sick of all this scratched metal, broken crete and such. It is such a relief to have some corridors with clean modern textures. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> Just keep sure they don't extend to the hives.
    Water in Half-Life is always mess. Someone recently released a screenshot of a map where he created a transparent water layer and an opaque one below. Water created this way looks almost realistic! Try it. What are you waiting for? Do it.     some good stuff there, i like it...

    One thing you could work on though is your ceillings, they're all flat. It adds a lot to the room if your ceilling is worked. (a quick example: look at the ceilling in the marine spawn in eclipse, but you'll see this in all the most off the "official" maps).

    I don't know where the pic is. It was just one pic among many of a new map someone presented. He also used the stagnant texture and made the water look muddy with this second, solid texturelayer.

    I'll try to add more detail to the ceiling in the next build. I would also be interested in seeing this pic of the water if you wanted to try to PM or just post it in this thread. I will also be adding more debris around the map I just have been trying to add more rooms and such. Thanks for all the feedback so far.
