Simply put, the HMG is just 'better' then the LMG. So, in the long run, you'll have better luck taking 'Tiny' out with a HMG then a LMG. But if your alone, may god help you ...

Result: The marine's teammates are peeling him off of the wall. Level5 is now outraged at the easy kill and charges towards the rest of the marines.
Marines retaliate, and all have HMGs.

Level5 goes 'ouchie' and dies. One or two marines snuff it.
Really though, it depends. Unless the level5 isn't in a very navigatable area, or the marine is out of reach, then the marine will undoubtably win. In a 'mexican draw' situation, the marine will end up being 15 kinds of tomato paste.
A LMG in this game is like a SMG (submachine gun) in real life thus firing pistol bullets at an extreme ROF most of the time , in real life an mp5 can emty its clip in under 4 seconds , the HMG is basically and assault rifle Firing larger bullets at a lower ROF than a submachine gun
---------------- Length of a pistol Bullet (SMG)(LMG) [9mm]
------------------------------- Length of a Rifle Bullet (AR)(HMG)[7.62]

But on topic, you got it right, depending on where he is, he might live or die. I took out 5 marines (hiding and charging), but then got into a room with pipes, inched around while crouching and 2 marines splattered me to the Readyroom and back.

The whole narrow corridor/large room thing doesn't really matter ... if you on the same level as him (IE: not on a catwalk or ladder or something) and your by your self - your dead. Simple as that. No 'ifs, ands, or buts'.

Because the dev team does not manage the forums due to us being far too busy.
It is in the dev teams interest to discourage the use of these names, because they ridicule the nature of the aliens and the names just look downright silly.
It was one of the forum moderators who came up with the initial playful term for the aliens, which was 'bob'. We have slapped him many, many times.
