Maybe some chairs, a futon over there...
Howdy, folks. I'm new to posting, but not new to the site, per se. I've been following the project for quite some time. Everything I've seen looks so professional, and the talent of the writer for your World section is astounding. I want to hear what happened those other days in Sanjii.
Besides which, I had tossed around the thought of a FPS/RTS for a while before finding out about this, and I was suprised to find out someone could actually make it work. And still look pretty. I wish I had that talent. But they took it a step further. What if one team has a great commander and good teamwork, and the other team likes to do their own thing? That's OK with us! Be an alien, do your own thing, and just jump in when it looks like a teammate is having more fun over there with those nice fleshy organ-containers. But wait, you say. You want a firm hand? You want teamwork and/or strong leadership? You want to be told when you can use the john? Then join the Trans-System Authority! See the galaxy, and leave a small crater in it!
That was brilliant, incorporating both the strong teamwork/stick togetherness and the action-packed do your own thing, yet still work together teamwork into one mod. Good stuff. And it was done so beautifully, with the aleins, and the humans, and the classes. I should have seen it coming. After all, I was a big Gloomer back in the days of Quake2. Which brings me to the topic at hand.
Gloom had a steep learning curve with its classes, but helped with this handy dandy little table-like thingy. The main website here, and Ready Room has no such table. Much of the aliens I've picked up from the forums, but somewhat scattered. Level One aliens can climb walls and ceiling, and blow themselves up in an acidic blast. Level Two, well, they build. A Level Three will wish you well with a strafing spore attack from above. Level Four can teleport short distances, provided they have line-of-sight vision. Plus, they're really, really ugly-looking. And a Level Five. Well, let's just pray you never see a Level Five. But I've unable to gleam much more than that, and even that information was spread out somewhat.
Plus, what about the marines ? Any major upgrades, or just handing out some new, shiny, bigger-boom weapons, and clean, shock-absorbing armor?
I'm sorry, I know that the veterans of the subject (especially those who are PLAYING it...) must be tired of explaining things yet again to someone who just doesn't get it, but maybe someone could invest some time in a table-like format thingy? I would have something to console me on those lonely night...
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

The team is also keeping a few things secret to really surprise the public when NS finally releases. (: Something like what you've mentioned will most likely be included in the manual, which will be available for viewing online as well as for download.
Welcome to the forums!

Basically, all I was going to say is pretty much exactly what Coil said, it'll all be in the manuals. I don't think that the dev team will be relesing much more than they already have, as they probably want to keep a few things secret to make the marines cream themselves the first time they see a Level 5
Yep, we're just not ready for this yet. We'll put up a lot more info after we release, both on the website and in the form of the manual (which Nemesis Zero, Fam and Rob6264 are working on now).

Warning n00b question coming:
Can I play Gloom with Q3 instead of Q2? Im guessing no.
Some people might insist, however, that you get your human/alien fix from Aliens vs Predator, instead of Gloom. I prefer Gloom, but it's a matter of personal preference. Pick them both up for cheap, and then you can have enough Human/Alien fighting to hold you over until Natural Selection is here.

The American public has a short memory. This is why most politicians are re-elected.

Edit: I almost forgot, it's good to hear there's a manual coming out. Just to let you know, based on what I've seen of this project so far, I have high expectations. Any chance of seeing it just a wee bit early? Mee cann chek you gramerr und speling.
JAILBREAK!
Damn, I was so hooked on that mod, played it all the night on the weekends, 5 hours straight.
God, I hope to gain such a feeling again.
*edit*
Speaking of which can we get a "flipoff" taunt key for the maines? get to flipoff 'em aleins after you run out of ammo when know your in for it.
Flipoff taunt?.... That reminds me of what I do in AvP2 when I'm fighting something big, I'm feeling funny, I'm low on HP, I'm human, and I'm not well-armed. I quickly press the local voice taunt button as much as possible (it's local now ).
