and why?
It can be a location for any purpose. Many of mine are ambushing spots because i like nothing better than killing enemies that are under the impression they have cleared and secured an area, and that all is safe.
Bast - Observation Bridge because i like using it as pg point from the marine start to plan attacks on engine and/or refinery. The ledge in the ceiling of feedwater is also cool and it's funny when the aliens have the hive and the marines sneak a PG up there on the ledge without them realising.
Caged - Above the small pipes room on the ledge is sometimes fun to build things on or as an ambushing point on marines incoming to generator.
Eclipse - Above Triad Generator or the Keyhole vent because they're both good for ambushes. The high ceiling in station access is also a favourite of mine in the early game when a couple of marines go to get the res node. Wait for the com to place the RT then jump down and let rip.
Hera - My least favourite map and i often avoid playing it so i don't really have any prefered locations for ambushes etc but my favourite basic location is the ventilation hive because of the vents/pipes around it, and it looks cool.
Nancy - The ceiling above the mess hall res node to ambush marines in the early game or the narrow walkway in the roof of cargo, especially as a lerk.
Nothing - The dark ledges above Powersilo are nice to hide in especially in the early game when a couple of marines head there to relocate. There's nothing like jumping from that height and biting heads off.
Tanith - Behind the 'Waterfall' in reactor room because it's a great place to surprise incoming marines in the early game, especially those which jump into the water to get to the res nodes. I also like parasiting marines from here because most of the time they have no idea where it's coming from.

Caged - "Veggie" (Sewer Vestibule Sublevel) 'Cause you can get onto the roof as a solo marine and camp with style.
Eclipse - Maintainance, nice tall, dark ceiling.
Hera - The Easter Egg Or the outer part of processing for d0ncability.
Nancy - The vent below and just outside marine base (with the grill), marines cant shoot you but you can bite them (moahahaha).
Nothing - Generator room and the ledge above the door, to kill the skulks at the start several players have to form a tower
Tanith - Reactor rooms big tank things, good cover and you can climb onto the ceiling with them to confuse people
Caged - The vent to marine start, build few dcs there and then gorg rush.
Eclipse - I dislike entire map.
Hera - That vent to marine start, easy to go in and eat obs or arms. Or that small box in which cc is. (Fun to be there as skulk if they didnt relocate.)
Nancy - Doesnt have any so special place. Mess hall is fun... some great ambushes there.
Nothing - The vent to marine start.
Tanith - Those doors to marine start. Its fun to wait on top of them and kill marines when they try to leave base.
Caged - The Shipping Tunnel.
Eclipse - The dark corridors next to Triad.
Hera - Any vent
Nancy - Mess Hall. I've commed several games where there has been huge battles over this point. We held of lots of onos and fades. We won
Nothing - The catwalk in The Great Viaduct
Tanith - Cargo something. A lot of fights in this area.
but....
In Bast: I like to hide in the tunnel area(where there is a tram) as a lerk and spike the marines.
Eclipse: The dark vents north-east of CC, where you can cover most entrances to EC and triad, and is an excellent ambush spot.
Hera: Ventilation Hive - very attractive architecture, and the light from the big fan and its whooshing noise give it a unique atmosphere, when a lot of hives can feel the same.
Nothing: The tall corridow between cargo vent and via whose name I always forget - Excellent "OMG this game is going to ROCK" architecture moment #2.
Tanith: Any of the many places where there's steam rising through the floor. Again, an excellent touch for improving the atmosphere.
Caged The ceiling of the generator hive. There are so many pipes in the way up there, a skulk can hide there and parasite ANY early-game marines that attempt to secure the hive.
Hera I like the entire Processing area (broken-ness aside). I also like the cargo area.
Eclipse Could there be any other? The one; the only: TRIAAAAAD!
Nothing The entiremap. A true favorite, however, would be the vent area inside the marine spawn that leads to the forboding antevhamber area.
Tanith The nice little vent area under the Chemical Transport room.
Nancy Where can I start.....I would have to say I like the Subspace hive ceiling. There are many vents up there for a lerk to perch on and spike everything. Mother interface is a close second. And lets ot forget the excellent doggie-cages above messhall. Lastly, I believe Nancy showcases the best-looking hive around: Noname.
- Atmospheric processing : I go up the big hole with the water dripping of it. Nice to hide there, since marines often build under it and never look up.
- Refinery : Plain cool hive. Love all the nice hiding place in it.
Its when the path bends left and there is a small place to hide behind a ledge on the right.
Nancy: Vents to Port, love JPing their hive from their and then JPing back and shooting as skulks chase you, haha
Hera: Holoroom and Hera Reception
Caged: hidden res in Freight Elevator
Eclipse: the vents by Computer Core and Power subjunction res
Nothing: Room with Things, so many reloc's there, so many wins.. controlling those 3 res nodes with 1 TF, and then taking docking, gen, and miasma... won with an EXCESS of 800 res... couldnt use it all up!
Tanith: the room in the vents by Waste
