Bomberman!

<div class="IPBDescription">Teach me how to play!</div> The newest Bomberman. I'm entered in a tournament on Tuesday. Today was the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament, and although I had never touched a Gamecube controller I did pretty well, since I played the first Super Smash Bros. Never played Bomberman though. We're playing the newest one, forgot the name. Just give me the basics, please.

Ok, I haven't played it, but I think it's the old school style of play.

You're one of four Bombermen, know your color. I think it's a different color depending on your player number.

Lay a bomb, most likely A, and use the joystick to move. Press A while next to a bomb to kick it. Various things will blow up from the blasts of bombs, and most will have a power up, be it laying more bombs, or a bigger blast radius.

That's the REAL basics, but I haven't played it, so they could have added more BS in. ~_^

I've just played it on Amiga and TI89 but I'll just say don't blow yourslef up, don't goo too quick and chase the upgrades like mad. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

I can't stand super bomberman... It's the one game I'm utterly, totally crap at. I hate it when I'm at someone's house playing N64 with friends and then someone busts out the bomberman, because that means my reign of terror on Perfect Dark or Goldeneye is reduced to a "reign of frowning at the screen for at least half an hour" <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

What you want to do is trap your oponent between a bomb and a rock or something. So you've kinda gotta follow someone around whilst trying to kill them.

Your job is to blow up the other bombermen, this can be done with either your bombs, or someone elses bombs, including their own.

Bombs will explode when hit by any explosion, even another person's.

Don't accidently get blown up by your own bombs, and make sure you pay attention to the playfield, as most of them have special elements to mess you up.

To win you have to be the last one alive. If you're hit by the explosion, you die, unless you have a heart.

Yeah. From what I can remember, there are also powerups that can give you stuff like super big bombs, and the ability to toss multiple bombs. Also, in the N64 version if you lay a bomb and then hit fire a bunch of times, you can pump it up to get bigger, and then kick it.

Try searching for Bomberman java games on Google. There have been a bunch of remakes made that shouldn't be hard to find if you want a better idea of the gameplay.
