    Well, I must say I'm quite surprised... in a positive way.
    I would NOT like Blood just as a gory element to make NS more scary.. but I like some blood as Feedback of attacks.

    Dave... I can wait. In fact, if that happens and there's no way to turn it off, I may have to stop playing NS. That would just be annoying. I mean, I like playing with the blood plugin (well, once I got used to it, which only took like, five minutes), but that's only because then as a skulk i could tell if I hit a marine with bite MUCH easier. This also makes it somewhat easier to root out hackers (I found one guy who was a straight vanilla marine, and the marines had no upgrades, but I distinctly saw the blood 8 times (oh, and he didn't die, that's jsut when he finaly killed me. Just because he was aparently invincible doesn't mean he had good aim). I told an admin, the admin attacked him jsut to make sure, and I suppose the admin decided I was right, because he was kick-banned very soon after.

    Oh, and I don't know if this is actually a possible hack or if he just somehow managed to trick an admin into letting him be invincible (or turning on cheats for a moment or two to fix something and the kid using whatever cheat that is). I just know that somehow, he was.

    As long as the 2.0 blood doesn't cover any part of our screen like th eplug-in does.... If you're looking down and get bit, blood will gush and cover up half your screen. Mighty annoying O_O

    He also needs to make the bodies stay longer, for about fifteen minutes or ten minutes. A nice buildup would happen in a constant battle in one part of the map, and with my mp_decals at 30000 (The blood/bullets stay on for the whole map!) it would be total carnage...oh yes..

    point taken about the hl rating.... However, aliens don't currently leave trails of blood, so I think it might unbalance the game somewhat if marines left 'trails' of blood. I also think that blood is a good idea, but needs to used sparingly only for tactical purposes. Bodies piling up and blood spattering all overing the walls is excessive, and I personally would not enjoy playing NS if that's what it came to... <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I hope, after all this, there's actually some feedback for the bitee (or spikee) as well. If you're being spiked in the back, and the only feedback is the blood, you could easily not realise you're under attack (just as easily as at present).

    I'm happy about blood. Part of me can take it or leave it, but another part wants to see a bit when skulking, fountains when fading, and gibs up the walls as onos.......... perhaps I should switch to decaff.

    Yeah I made it, but I didnt put as much effort into it as would make me happy. Im just glad that my fark photoshop skills are being put to use.

    i dont care if version 2 has marine blood or not cos the majority of servers i play on have it installed anyway.

    In the beta forum thread, it has been suggested that there should be a sound instead of the blood - I think that if the blood was unwanted but used for hit recognition purposes that a small sound would probably be better.

    Not the tiny little *crunch* we get in 1.04, but some kind of pain sound from the marine. Not the over-enthusiastic death scream style thing, it should be something closer to a grunt or *ugh!* noise from the marine. It gives something to recognise the hit by, but keeps the blood out.

    The only problem now is making the sound loud enough to be heard over the chomping , but not so loud that it gets annoying or grosses out younger player's parents. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Someone suggested having marine armor gibs as hit confirmation. Would still be a good hit confirmation without the gore methinks. But then it could cause graphical slowdown or something, with more models appearing. Maybe it could be combined with the marine sound feedback?
