An Old Issue

reconsider?
Remember about a month or two ago when we were all having lengthy discussions about the Lerk bite? Well I doubt anyone will forget that, but I have something to say about it. Back then I was for Lerk losing bite and gaining spikes and spores because 2 shooting attacks on one hive just sounded too cool. I heard from someone on here that anyone who thinks bite should go is a n00b. Well recently I was in a nothing game and there was someone who had about 30 kills as a Lerk. I was a marine and highly annoyed and was also wondering how anyone could be so good at Lerk. Next round I went alien and asked him what defence upgrade he was getting, if I remember correctly he said:

"Carapace, because a carapaced Lerk is like a tank."

Well I sucked at Lerk and always died fast even with redemption, so I decided to give it a try and what do you know... it works great! So now I've been using Lerk a lot, and of course only getting better at it. I'm also realising that when I face marines head on, Spikes don't do me any good, so I press q and bite them dead. It works great!

Basically the whole point of this post is to ask Flayra to do what he did with alien evolution on one hive. Please try Lerk with bite in 1.1u just for one last chance as you did with alien evolution. If it doesn't work out, then go right back to the 1.1 way. That's all I ask.

If I'm on umbra duty I prefer regeneration because you take damage slowly enough that you can stay at 100% health and armor while you umbra for your team. (Barring GLs of course, but that'll kill you even with carp.)

Lerk is the alien that gets the most benefit from carapace, bare none. Goes from 9 lvl 0 lmg bullets to 30(!). Sadly, that goes down to 20 lmg bullets at lvl 1, but OTOH, lvl 2 and 3 STILL needs 20 bullets to kill a lerk.

1.04 of course - 1.1 has fixed the health damage round-down to avoid these step effects.

That all sounds good in 1.04, but how good would lerk bite be in 1.1? With lerk air speed capped and carapace further slowing down the lerk, you take more hits before getting to your target.

I highly doubt that the reason for the lerk bite's removal is that it is too weak.

It was removed because Flayra wanted the lerk to take on a more supporting role. Hence all the supporting abilities like umbra and primal scream.

While I hate to be harsh, this post is just about as selfish as any player can get.

Translation: "I finally learned how to get lots of kills with lerk bite, so please leave lerk bite in so I can continue to get lots of kills."

    Not:
    - It's best for the game.
    and not:
    - It's best for the lerk.
    but instead:
    - It's best for ME.

Stop thinking about what's best for YOU and think about the quality of the game. I tire of reading these lerk posts because mostly they are just a thinly veiled attempt to leave in whichever player's uber class so they can keep getting lots of kills, not because they are giving any thought to the game.

But lerk bite is just so cool. I dont want CS-type kharaa. Shoot, run, shoot, kill... Super-ninja-rapid-without-flapping-attacking-with-sonic-speed-from-nowhere-stealth-LERK!. You can fly at a marine a rip his head of. Any one seen Starship Troopers film and those strange flying bugs? They were attacking y flight and ripping heads off :> Its so cool to flight straight at a marine that is reloading and bite! Ohhh no one will understand this... never....

No Halik, there's quite a few who understand.

But there's no point fighting a majority. Make your point, let it be known there are detractors to the idea, but don't try to force the issue. Because at the end of the day, your say does nothing more than harden the resolve of those who don't agree.

Edit : After all, I am (along with KEm) one of those Lerk obsessives.

Rather, there is no point in fighting the one person that has the final say about what goes and what doesn't in NS. Flayra.
