New Mapper...

hi guys... i've never made a map in my life...
but u gotta start somewhere so here i am.
im abit lost as to how to get started off i dont even know
what program to use to make my map.
so if you could gimme some info to help me
get started.

    cheers for the help i got most of what i need to know
    sorted out. im getting on with that program quite well

    tho i've not started making the map i want yet i wanna
    base it around the new 1.1 version of NS.
    so after i played 1.1 to find out what has changed i'll
    base my map around it
