(Species) Lerk
Summary: Wiry fast and fierce, Lerks excel at attacking from a distance, as they are herbivores and dislike the taste of human flesh. They are small and light - making them difficult targets, but less resistant to damage. If Skulks are hit and run artists, then Lerks are guerrilla fighters without peer, using their speed, mobility, and range to harass marine squads with impunity. When not defending their hives from intruders, they can be found in the garden tending to their beloved crops of carrots, leeks and radishes.

the problem isnt as much the story behind the lerk as the fact they just want bite

I doubt most people have ever read the manual anyway.

I sure haven't. Too much bad sci-fi made the gameplay facts too hard to find. Story and instructions should be strictly separated.

I didn't find any *bad* sci fi in the manual

But I agree that it needs to be more organised.

I'm still scared when I hear a primal scream as marine... Possibly more scared than during my first days of NS.

I love teh manual - if only more manuals contained stuff like this instead of basic game concepts I might feel that game developers actually take an interest in their games!

Oh, that tears it. Lerks need a "radish" cannon.

I find it extremely difficult to defend a hive with the 1.1 lerk becuase the damage isn't there. Every second counts when stopping a rush, and spores / spikes don't kill fast enough. In 1.04, hive defence is my favourite part of the game <--- No joke!

Oh I have not read the manual yet...but it sounds interesting so I'll go check that out now.

For herbivores they sure got some big sharp pointy teeth.

Isn't hit and run tactics the basis of guerrilla warfare? or am I just reading this wrong?

It is, but another part of it is staying out of the line of fire i.e. shooting spore from the upper area in refinery then leaving to go to engine.

Nope, next up the fades will actually fade away over time, so after being a fade for some time you

can no longer attack

are invisible and invincible and

have noclip.

You make a great spy, but can no longer directly affect the game unless you type "kill" in console.
