there will be at least 30 sec walk between hives with marines, i think it follows all the mapping guidelines, any suggestions?

    There also needs to be a 30-second or so walk from each hive to the others.  Additionally, Hive1 and Hive3 each only have one entrance until the other is taken out.

    yes, in fact that's why I haven't done my layout yet, I designed a general ship layout but I'm having trouble finding where to put my last hive, I might move one and rename a section... might work.

    The room labeled CC, and the room below Hive 2, you have way too big of an area to see.  r_speeds will be very high.  You need to re-plan that area so you cant see very far, thus keeping r_speeds low
    Same thing with the hallway on the far right, and on the top.
    Well... Generally you can see too much from one room to another.  Try to add more hallways.  And remember, you can use 45 degree walls also.  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    it looks like a lot of squares, but its just to show where the rooms are, the corridors just show what they connect, i did it more detailed on paper but i just cant show you <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

    maybe the layout is bad scaled, the rooms are not as big as they can seem, i think i wont have problems with r_speeds, the room with the CC is just this, and is about 400 polys

    Hives 1 and 3 are still too close together.  Additionally, there are two LOVELY choke points that separate all three hives from the rest of the map... all aliens have to do is fortify those, and the game is theirs.  If they even need to do that.  Space your hives out more, and try to avoid choke points.

    You also have some VERY long straight areas - i.e. places you can stand where you can see a LONG way.  That's what brings r_speeds up.  Try to add bends in the hallways to avoid long lines of sight.  The corridors/rooms across the top and down the right side stand out in particular.

    If you love this layout so much, just make some rooms in the hallways and break up elevations.

    and coil, he said this layout was just a representation, and the sizes/shapes aren't exactly like what the map will be.SO maybe he's got it planned out ok.
