<div class="IPBDescription">First post soo there are a few question</div>This is my first post, but ive read some threads in this forum. Just to make it clear: I ... wanna ... play ... this ... game ... now! OK,ok some weeks to wait but its so damn cool.
here are a few questions, i havent found any "scientific data" on this so plz excuse:
1. What weapons do the various aliens have? bob=claws, infamous lvl 5= outofmywayorgettrampled, but the others?
any kind of long range weapon?
2. what upgrades can a marine get and how?
3. Can aliens walk behind walls and break through? i think it would be a very cool feature. i know its a LOT work for the mappers but just some parts like vents or something like that.
4. btw is this a lvl5?  <!--emo&:tiny:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tiny.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':tiny:'><!--endemo-->
5. in an interview i read that one mapper will look for a new mod after ns-beta 1.0 is released. will there be no 1.1? Is this the final version? i can hardly belive that.
6. are there classes for the marines or can every marine take a welder or a grenade launcher?

I really want to support this mod cuz its so cool and different from others.

    1: lots, many long range, level 3 has the most accurate long range but also has a spore cloud it can release
    I think bob(1) is the only one without a long range attack
    bob also can bite marines, and explode if they have 3 hives up
    2: new weapons, new gear, better armor and damage, like motion sensors, they are gained by the commander constructing buildings and using them to do research (marines must help build buildings)
    3: entirely up to the mapper
    4: yes
    5: there will be more
    6: no marine classes, and please don't try to suggest them or you might run into the not so nice side of posters in the ideas forum

    1. Well 1lvl(Bob) has claws and acid spitting(if i remember correctly), 2lvl(builder) can build webs and can upgrade acid spitting too(again, if i remember correctly) lvl3(flyer) can shoot some spikes lvl4(Blinky) has a really powerful claw/bite attack lvl5(tiny) can trample or use poison or bite and stuff like that. They had more abilities but i cant remember all of them. Every class had 3 or 4 "weapons".

    2. Marine can get atleast armor upgrades and weapons and that sort of stuff. The commander researches the upgrades

    3. I think they can break thru of vents and that kind of stuff, just like in other mods. But not thru every wall.

    4. Yea, thats tiny

    5. There will be(hopefully/propably) other versions, seems like this mapper just wants to do other mods too.

    6. No classes for them. They are after all marines, what kind of marine cant use a grenade launcher? So all classes can use all weapons.

    Those are my answers, some of them might need a bit of more info but you get the idea.

    So thanks. ive read all those stories from the gametesters and all of them were about bobs or lvl5 or a lvl3.

    it was just a question about the classes! <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->  i think its better without them, more realism.
    oh man i hope the mods out in 2 weeks or so  cuz thats when there will be a lan at my house.     As a mapper myself, I can definately empathize with the one you mention, wanting to find another mod to map for.

    NS mappign is =very= stressful, very difficult.  And, at the least, mapping for just one mod... well, gets old.

    Hey, no one's forcing you to map for NS.  HL Rally, Hostile Intent, Vampire Slayer, Counter-strike and others seem like they would all be fun to map for.

    I've heard Merk in IRC say that he will probably take a bit of a rest before starting another map.  He will almost certanly have a go at making another though, so i wouldn't worry much.  AS for Relic... well I don't know anything about his plans but I can't see hi abandaning NS at beta 1 after just one map.

    As for mappers go I think if u guys got DaveJ who in my opinion can make on of the best atmosphearic and gameplay friendly maps ever this would shurly give the mod one more excelent map for a second release.

    Here is what my forum-monkey self has deciphered from these threads for your reading enjoyment/displeasure..

    Level one can wall walk, pounce, and bite. 3 hives gives him the ability to xenocide (explode). I also heard random things of somthing called parasite. Like a wire tap but for marine bodies. He has ## HP.

    Level 2 can build. He has thivk armour and can make webs. He has a decent long range weapon that takes up too much energy. Webs are unlimited, but can only be placed a certian distance from each other.

    Level three can fly. They have a dart-spit that is the equivalent of a CS commando (sg288). They also have stinkcloud, which makes an area impassable to marines for fear of suffocation. Stinkcloud lasts ## seconds and has a # second delay.

    Level 4 can blink. Blinking instantly transports you to the geometry that your reticle is over. This consumes a lot of energy. Level 4 also has umbra. This attack resembles a rocket launcher. Level 4 used to be able to wall bounce (jump from wall to wall to ceiling to floor ect.) but I believe this bounding ability was too difficult to code and thusly removed. You may not blink unless 3 hives are erected.

    Level 5 is huge. He is easily the tougest. He can trample, and primal scream. Primal scream inproves the attack speed, energy recharge rate, and movement speed of aliens near him. He also has a short range paralyng attack. You must have 3 hives erected to use Tiny.

    All aliens cloak while crouching and staying still. They are still semivisible so this is best used in the hands of a bob(level 1).

    The classes are:
    1 Bob
    2 Pudgy
    3 Flyer (batty?)
    4 Blinky
    5 Tiny

    you need 3 hives to blink and only 2 hives to get blinky?
    hmmmm if getting and maintaining 3 hives is really difficult, welded doors are a HUGE problem for the aliens

    hey this post wasnt meant to start a discussions about whos leavin ns or something like that.
    from what ive read there are some very very good maps out there.
    ive done some mapping myself, but its really taking much of your spare time. DoD maps and firearms all things war-like were my tries. i had just finished my map when dod 2.1 came out and so much had to be redone.

    think of it this way:
    give a marine a gernadelauncher     and he is class: gernader
    give a marine a wealder             and he is class: engineer
    give a marine a HMG                 and he is class: heavy weapon
    give a (and so on)

    Tru dat. And shottys always help. Oh, and cloakign wise. It has three degrees. The 1st just makes you about 50% invisible, makign it really only useful in dark places and amidst a complex texture (Infestation is ideal <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> ) The 2nd degree is almost invisible, but a careful and peery marien can see you, and if you hide in front of a white wall in a bright room, your kinda askin for it. the 3rd degree of cloaking is total invisibility. As logn as your sittign still, of course.
