<div class="IPBDescription">best way to learn is to watch</div> Ello, ello. I've been somewhat dorment from the NS forums for the past month or two (mainly due to my server going down), and I figured I'd show back up with an interesting topic.

New people are always wanting to learn how to play and what not, so why not post individual demos of your performance? Granted, rines isn't much to learn from but there are strategic places on every map that people can learn.

As of now, I've only got this first demo of play and soon I'll put one up of me as skulk, then gorge, lerk, and commander (if that's possible). I'm not saying I'm good, but I do know a few things and hell... someone might learn something.

Don't be shy people! Post your demos as well.

P.S. Wonderful candidate for sticky, don't you think? =D

<a href='http://downloads.team-ai.com/files/spiffyjr-part1.zip' target='_blank'>Marine</a> - Small clipping of pub play on sl33pl3ss. 3/3 with MT.
<a href='http://downloads.team-ai.com/files/spiffyjr-part2.zip' target='_blank'>Alien</a> - As far as nubs goes, this takes the cake. There are, however, some good skulk moves if I do say so myself <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

**UPDATE** 6/25/2003
Two new demos, the second one has an interesting bug I've never experienced first hand with death/regen. I died and then regenned to life. Interesting.

<a href='http://downloads.team-ai.com/files/spiffyjr-part2.zip' target='_blank'>6.25.2003.marine.zip</a> - Nub comm to the max. Gotta watch this one.
<a href='http://downloads.team-ai.com/files/spiffyjr-part2.zip' target='_blank'>6.25.2003.skulkage.zip</a> - Nifty bug demo. Can't believe it happened, rofl.

P.S. Come on people, this post has been alive for 3 days and not a single person has posted demos of themselves! How am I supposed to learn? <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

You probably downloaded before the file was finished uploading. Should be working now, try again.

At least it shows that your opponents we're not the best in the world, you know about the flashlight exploit and that you can sit on the ledge in the portengine hive so that you can't get hit by oc's. =)

I would have to disagree with the "watching demos is the best way to learn".
In my opinion, playing with GOOD players and actually experiencing the game is the best way to learn. Try a clan's server first as they are usually more forgiving than the general pubs.

Watching demos are the best way to catch cheats <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Just wait till HLTV spectating is ready for NS 1.1, I've played demos for CS with HLTV demos, and theyre really cool, simply because you can change the views, instead of the player that records them changing them. And that's much better <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Psh, don't get all nitty gritty. I just wanna see individual demos from other people.

EDIT: I realize I can't teach someone to aim nor can I teach them to be smart but I can teach them places to shoot down a hive (yes the ledge in port is nice) as well as well placed OC placement for jp/hmg rush etc...

Watching demos is very good to some extent, you just can't get all the nitty gritty details by just playing with other people. Unless 1st person speccing is available, demos is the next best thing.

Heh heh heh - yup. HLTV allows you to chnage picture, angle, view etc. of already recorded demos. Great for making & editing movies, especially in games like The Specialists when you get cool-looking high-flying stunts.
