Left-click a marine to select him. Right-click anywhere to give him a waypoint to that location.
Right-click on an unconstructed building to tell him to build it.
An alien, to tell him to attack it.
Finished buildings, defend it (I think).
Other marines, defend it (again, I think).
Himself, defend it (I think. Can be very annoying, so expect to get ejected <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->).

I'm pretty sure that's correct. I don't normally comm except when there's an emergency (we need new IPs, real comm is dead/atttacking hive with the team etc).

Umm... Wouldn't it be a better idea to read the manual first?

Public servers need more commanders, for sure. I would recommend perusing through the New Player forum. There are some really good posts on the ins and outs of commanding, and some really good tips on how to be successful. Commanding can be very challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Waypoints are a good thing, but don't forget about things like the research tree, strategy, etc.

    Good luck sk84!

Talk to your team and ask the expert (-S if youre lucky) in your team for advice regarding building and upgrading. If you know how to talk, listen, click and learn fast, you should do fine. I hope your not just going to go command straight away without playing some (meaning about 10+) rounds as a grunt and seeing how good commanders do stuff.

BTW, this topic should be on "New Player"-forum I think.
