<div class="IPBDescription">You can still get into commander mode!</div>Somethign i found out today when I switched to the new FGD, when you put down the point entity for the command station in your map and then you are in the map in NSTR, while you don't see a command station, you can still press Use on the point entity (or at least where it should be) and it'll still throw you into command mode. just stand near where its supposed to be and slowly walk while stabbing your use key over and over again :)

this way you don't have to worry about switchign back and forth between two FGD's just to get into commy mode...

You could also place the entity like this:
    command   |
    station   |
    brush    ---
           |   |entity
            ---
             |
             |
    ----------------------------------------floor

didn't come out right. just place the entity over the brush that you want the command station to look like, a.k.a. computer, with half of the entity sticking out where you want the player to activate it from.

Reborn, you don't seem to understand many of the basic concepts of NS mapping.  You really, really need to read the <a href="http://www.natural-selection.org/MappingGuidelines.htm" target="_blank">Mapping Guidelines</a>.

You came here after the commander entity change was announced, so no excuses.  You need to know that this is a point entity that will be where the command center model (a standard model) is going to be placed.  You are not supposed to place it near computers and such that are supposed to be your own command center design.

    <b>***UPDATE***</b>

I just found this out today. While you can still enter commander mode to view the map from above DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT try to select the command station (or where it should be) to try to build something. If you do, HL comes to a screeching halt. Freezes computer completely, except for grinding the crap out of your hard drive. After a bit it'll GPF but then the computer still won't shut down fully, you'll have to manually power off and risk data loss...

<s>you could just make a block at that point too</s>

    looks like that was covered...

An FGD is the file that contains all of the custom entities for whatever mod you are mapping for.  As for compiling, use shodan like it told you.

ive got a bit of a problem wic the commie mode. But i didn't feel like making a new topic for it, so here goes:

i get in to 'commander mode' but all it does is move the view up like 15 ft and i cant move the camera, place buildings or anything, all i can do is look around.  Is this how its supposed to be or what? I was trying to test if the marine base in the map im working on had enuf room for buildings but I can't, so...
    edit:
and with either FGD the command center and command interface dont show up(not sure if thats a problem though)
