Equilibrium: Cool Idea Of What It

means to be human
Well after being told what this movie is from Sqirrel master I decided to see this movie called Equilibrium.

Its pretty good in my opinion. Maybe not the best film in the universe there but its a great sci-fi/action moive. The action and fighing is very similar to that in the The Matrix. I wouldnt say it ripps of it but its very well done. We see a kind of bullet time though its played out in real time instead of the slow motion stuff.

Lots of black trench coats and dual akimbo gun action here.

Ill give it a 7.5 out of 10 for its storyline It kinda makes you think. If anyone here has ever read the classic book "The Giver" then you can get a good idea of what this movie is about. Society that has lost the meaing of what it is to be truly human.

Heres a screenie.

"The giver" as in the people are mindless and dont have any feelings or grasp the concept of emotion.

They dont see the "real world" I didnt mean the plot was the same as the giver I ment just some of the concepts.

Yeah, The Giver was the worst book I've ever read, but I want to see this movie.

K good. Yeah that lady rights a bunch of meaningless crap IMO. A wrinkle in time was ok, but the sequels to it made no sense at all. And they are supposed to be kids books.

Saw it, was okay I guess. The story is akin to the likes of Farenheit 451, or those books about a utopian society at the expense of removing humanity, so yeah, it's nothing brand new. At times it seems a bit awkward, (dialogue situation concerning dog). It particularly bothered me that EVERY fight was a total masochist beating, and I mean TOTAL. Seriously, looking at the fights between the rebels and the regular soldiers (before the ending), you have to wonder whether they really need those clerics with their fancy gun kata training...

Action was okay, kind of sparse though (last scene was pretty well done), and I really don't feel like it ripped Matrix, (my friend said it seemed closer related to Minority Report). The sets and costumes were pretty cool though...

Some guy from another forum had a nice avatar from the movie:

The Giver was an awsome book! It was slow, but it was interesting....Okay..maybe it was stoopid.

I liked The Giver. I don't care what y'all say.

But you're right, the sequels to a wrinkle in time kinda get too weird for their own good.

There was sequels to that book? Wow those must be even worse. The recipe for that book was four table spoons of crap.

Well in other interests, you could also say this movie was much like George Orwell's "1984".

That was significantly better then "The Giver".

Exactly what I mean about the masochist beatings. Even with the super abilities they had in Matrix, I think the fights were still a bit of a challenge for the protagonists.

Ugh. Hated the giver. Was done sooo much better in 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. 1984 showed the love/attraction side of humans, Fahrenheit showed our will to survive and be our own boss, and the giver did neither. Just about some boy who thinks things are wrong. Ugh.

Back to topic, the movie does look good, and I hope to see it soon.

My movie rating system consists of the answer to one question: is it a buyer? In this case, "absolutely". While the story is a little bit unbelievable, the fight/gun scenes alone make it worth the cost of the DVD. Seriously!!

Here's a quick orientation : the Grammaton Clerics are essentially an uber-elite policing organization. They are trained in the art of combat in its most mathematical form - understanding and manipulating a fight based on the highest-percentage "kill zone" and statistically-based areas of "return fire". In other words, they learn to fight in such a way so they have the highest possible chance of a kill, and can also 'predict' where a retaliatory strike will almost always occur.

Pretty cool concept, and some of the fight scenes are mind-boggling. A lot of the fights are short, but that's mainly because the Cleric is such a damn effective fighter.

    **SPOILER WARNING**

I was looking forward to a really sweet fight between the main character and his 'partner' near the end of the movie. It's really too bad it was as short as it was.

Sounds like a HKBO. The Matrix didn't invent akimbo guns and trenchcoats.

Hey i play that game too lol!

I love the little back up pistol. When I played that gun early on and there were few players, me and my friend would go into a server and fly into each other and knock each other over.

And the connection? Might as well say it's like CS because it has akimbo pistols as well >_>

The movie was almost a perfect blend of Fahrenheit 451 and Anthem. The "palaces" they mentioned were taken straight from Anthem (they even had the same names).

*sigh* unfortuately I don't play TO because there aren't any servers which have people on\I have a sane ping to.

JediYoshi, it's a specific style of movie. CS isn't a movie, and it's not about duels and trenchcoats and crazy stunts.

Think 1984 crossed with Farenheit 451 and some kickass Matrix sytle action sequences thrown in. A very deep game.
