<div class="IPBDescription">Remember the last one? No? Nub!</div> Some might remember the last time I did, this, but here is my 2nd annual list of games to track. It's completely arbitrary and I'm sure there will be lots of additions, disagreements, and h8 from people due to their faves not being listed. So be it. Note also the trend of near-future military stuff - in their efforts to not be CS-clones, everyone became clones of each other <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> . Note also that all I listed are PC titles - for you console guys, the exit is that way.
Mine are, as usual, in no particular order. Diggity dig, boyyyeeeeee...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<b>S?ldner</b> - Multiplayer 1st and 3rd-person combat in a near future with very large environments - <a href='http://soldner.jowood.com/' target='_blank'>http://soldner.jowood.com/</a>
Think of this game as Operation: Flashpoint meets Natural Selection meets a miniature Everquest. Hmm, a commander mode. A gesture based communication system. OMG HAX DEY RIP OFF NSz0R!!!! Not. They do use some of the better features though (and it's questionable if they ever heard of NS - they are Germans). The game has some great ideas like environments that can be truly destroyed (sort of geo-moddy). The levels are huge - several thousand miles in total, although you will be focussed in certain areas. Vehicles are a big part, and they model a ton of them, getting as obscure as Japanese armored fighting vehicles. There is a particularly interesting player customization system that allows up to 60,000 combinations in your appearance (and has special features for clan play to design Clan uniforms). There is also a very slick 'mini-modding' system that allows you to create your own multiplayer modes and games without being a programmer or mapper. Slick stuff.
<a href='http://soldner.jowood.com/screenshot.php?ss=8' target='_blank'>Maaaaan, on the run</a>
<a href='http://soldner.jowood.com/screenshot.php?ss=52' target='_blank'>Bullseye!</a>
<a href='http://soldner.jowood.com/screenshot.php?ss=64' target='_blank'>Camping 3rd person</a>
<a href='http://soldner.jowood.com/screenshot.php?ss=78' target='_blank'>Good backup if you're on point</a>

<b>The Movies</b> - The Sims meet Francis Ford Coppola - <a href='http://www.themoviesgame.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.themoviesgame.com/</a>

In an alternate history earth, the stinking commie Soviets apparently decided to overrun europe and end any possibility of the EU. They subsequently take over the world, and now have their sights set on America. You are a former plumber operating as a freedom fighter in New York City, leading a team of fellow patriots against the filthy russkies. Done entirely in 3rd person, with a simple but effective command system, you will perform missions in your quest to toss the Sov's into the hudson. Recruiting is based on 'charisma points', and the more missions you accomplish, the more likely top freedom fighters are to join your party and really step up the violence. But just the thought of sniping from the top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza then setting off some claymores as they swarm in to clear me out? Priceless...

<b>Prince Of Persia</b> - Like the original. But betterererer - <a href='http://www.prince-of-persia.com/tale03/index.html' target='_blank'>http://www.prince-of-persia.com/tale03/index.html</a>
Ever play the original PoP's on your Pentium1? Oh, I forgot, you are t3h nUb! Prince of Persia looks to be the big bad boy on teh block for upcoming adventure games, even as Indiana Jones and Laura Croft make their inevitable returns. Without going on and on about the graphics, which look amazing, this game looks to set the bar a bit higher in the puzzle-jumping, sneaky trap, turbanned-guard genre.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<b>STALKER: Oblivion Lost</b> - More near-future FPS madness, but more SP oriented - <a href='http://www.stalker-game.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.stalker-game.com/</a>
Ever play Twilight 2000? This is along those lines. A wasteland of nuclear disaster is inhabited by Stalkers, roving bands of super-AI 'poachers'. This RPG uses huge environments and (according to the developers) super-sophisticated AI to bring its gameplay to life. Using a zone-based map system, a player travels through the game's open-ended gameplay in a fallout-esque world (presumably without the humor - the game *is* being made by those durned Russkies). Full of monsters, NPC's, vehicles, and lots of radioactive fun, Stalker looks to be a nifty game. Throw in the bartering system, quests, miniquests, and the fact this is first and foremost a single player experience, and you've got some Mad Maxy goodness here.

<b>Half-Life2</b> - No real need to discuss this one, but included for sake of completeness - <a href='http://www.planethalflife.com' target='_blank'>http://www.planethalflife.com</a>
<b>Doom3</b> - ditto - <a href='http://www.idsoftware.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.idsoftware.com/</a>

quicke info - as i remember it(so it's not tobe trusted...):
is to be released sometime next spring
Is powered by the Source Engine
- i just hope it has better multiplay opportunities than the last Vampire game, 4 players <i>including</i> the story teller :/
As for Vampire, I watched the traitor and was pretty, hmm, underwhelmed. It just looked very rushed and dark and, well, not polished yet. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though, as the concept is cool.
There's a few more that I think are watchworthy as well:
<a href='http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/evilgenius/preview_6029616.html' target='_blank'>Evil Genius</a> looks to be silly and fun
And how could you forget <a href='http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/samandmaxfreelancepolice/index.html' target='_blank'>Sam & Max: Freelance Police</a>!???!!!2

Well, sort of.
Still my lists gota be:
HL2
Deus Ex2
Black & White 2 (Peter aka lead developer, said probably end of year early next year)
Sim City 4 Rush Hour (Cant wait to play as Jaki Chan)
Few others, but those are the biggies, maby The Sims 2.
Earthbound series - Many of the Earthbound titles are being translated and released for GBA, and if I'm correct the original Earthbound released to the U.S. is being ported
FF Tactics Advance - FF Tactics battle system with a new story.
Advance Wars 2 - Followup to a great strategy game
(Don't know title) - FF Adventures for the original Gameboy, which was actually not an FF title, but a prequel to the smash hit Secret of Mana, is being remade for the GBA! w0000 more SoM goodness!

Omg! I always thought the guys who made Hitman were Swedish. Every day something new...
Anyway...onwards!
S?ldner - agreed, looks very spectacularly sweettastic. Only one problemo = me lives in poverty = me have a crappy comp = me f***ed :/
The Movies - I always wanted to direct videos! I even took couple of filming-courses in school <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Prince Of Persia - Yay \o/ This game(and the 2nd part) owns so much! Remember how hot the princess was in her dress? This, Kings Quests and Monkeyyyy Islands are the best memories from my youth gaming. Oh wait, Syndicate and Doom and Wolfenstein and Sam&Max and Larry and Sabotage(from Commodore) and .... o_O Seems like it's time to dig out the old comp. I don't know if I should hate your or love you.
STALKER: Oblivion Lost - Somehow I don't feel like getting excited because of this. Allow me to remind you that I live in a third world country and I have to dig my meals from carbage cans and fight for it with giant radioactive rats...been there, done that. Why would I want this game when I live in the middle of Fallout.
Ps. Mom, if you see this send me some money for beer.

Its kind of wierd like you have WC going MMORPG then You have EQ goint RTS :o
Basically its like a couple hundred years in the past of eq history. You play as a hero of 1 of 3 factions and command armies. It looks pretty cool but there isint a whole lot of info out about it.

That special brand of stupidity isn't limited to your country, strangely. A fair share of conservative Europeans walk around with exactely the same outdated enemy image, the same sparse political vocab, and an embarassing admiration for anything - <i>anything</i> - American, only that it's a good deal more hollow than the original mindest.
Believe me, you'd get sick of listening to such guys even faster than I do.

There was actually a game in dev a few years ago based on this movie, but afaik it was canned.
<a href='http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield1942/editorial/vietnam.jsp' target='_blank'>Battlefield: Vietnam</a>
The first one looks freaking awesome. I hope it comes out in the States..
The second one.... probably stupid. "The communists will take us as slaves in their factories and exploit our work and give us low wages!" probably something stupid like that. And don't forget stereotypical Russian accents.
The third one I didn't look at.

Not really. But they sure can seem slimey.
Anyway, back on topic, I really want to be able to mod 'The Movies'. Can you imagine having a team of 'set designers' and such making you custom pieces for your all new sci-fi-porn adventure!?!?! Neither can I.
