We Are Closing All 8 Ns Servers This Week.

Sadly we will be shutting down all of our Natural Selection servers this week. This is due to these issues:
Extensive lapse in mod support from the creators. (Lack of patching)
and;
Lack of anticheat support (except Cheating death AKA Server Death), which we do not use.
and;
Extremely poor Linux performance of this mod.
The server opps out there have been dropping this mod like a stone due to the reasons above. We hung on as long as we could in anticipation of 1.1, however; we can wait no longer. It is possible we will pick this mod back up after the next release; albeit dependant on the product quality and support provided.

Feel free to stay informed and pick up 1.1 when it comes out. This version runs much better on Linux (and Win32), will include VAC support and should hopefully have a place in your servers.
What servers were you running btw?

And when was the last time TFC was patched? lot longer ago than when 1.04 was released.

My clans server runs on linux, dual xeon 2.4 1.5gb ram and really even on hera and bast never uses alot of CPU and (cable/adsl)client pings are NEVER over 80 (Damn good if you ask me)

From what i can see the servers are still up, just less people play the circuit now.
Ok after just wreaking your argument for putting all of your NS servers down, will you tell us who you are?
simply saying WE doesnt quite work, unless you have "WE NS 1.04#1" etc
*edit* almost forgot, for linux servers, set pingboost in the command path
however if I was going to shut them down for something else, I don't believe that I'll make a dramatic exit...
1.1 Will be out. Don't be impatient. Just deal with 1.04 till 1.1.

I can relate to the initial post of this topic but we didnt shut down all of our "2" servers because of the "blah" he was talking about. We had a fairly popular server going until Cheating Death destroyed it. So we shut them down in anticipation for 1.1. Still waiting patiently for it. I imagine it will be out soon (crosses fingers). Im just going to write a script that wgets the main site and searches for "1.1", "released", etc. LOL j/k.
