The question that usually bothers a lot of people on low bandwidth connections is ....
      <drum roll>
How big will the download be? (approx,obviously) since its feature complete i dont think the size will vary much until release, so a rough estimate on size would be nice.

Doesnt bother me though, i just leave it over night, but im sure a lot of peole are wondering <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Impossible to say. Feature completeness has little really to do with size variations - that aspect is only regarding two DLL's. The art and levels and sound are what consume space, and parts of those are still being completed or evaluated.

    Could you please make a guess or, if you cant do that could you please tell us what size it is now and then we'll at least be prepared because if it's large now we can at least get some headache pills or something.
    Unfortunately theres no cable or anything in my part of England otherwise I'd get that, I've already upgraded my comp to a 1.8 athlon with 256mb ram so I can play this.

    Even if it's a couple gigs, it'll be worth the headaches and the 34094094 minute wait from fileplanet. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I got said something maybe around 100-140 mb or thats what I would think. So it would be about the same size as CS, I think thats close. Maybe it isn't, thats just me.
    But as CS is one of the biggest mods for HL (AFAIK) guess about that plus perhaps 20. STC

    Monse: I'm not starting rumors.. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I pray that the NS team doesn't make it Fileplanet exclusive, as it is almost unanimous anywhere you go: Fileplanet SUCKS! I swear that Fileplanet is really a twisted scheme by the video game companies to make gamers buy more games. After all, who wants to wait several hours for low download speeds on a 200 meg demo when they can go out and buy the real thing instantly? It's a conspiracy I tell you! A conspiracy!

    I agree, but with the amount of people waiting on this, along with the weird contacts MonsE has probably drummed up by now (Mafia anyone?), there will probably be an infinite number of websites written in languages I can barely comprehend serving as mirrors.

    We have 30 separate mirror sites lined up right now, with more on the way - and yes, plenty in Europe, the UK, and the south pacific. We will not be offering it as an exclusive to any single site. That's usually done as part of a money deal (GSI pays X amount for a 2 day exclusive download ro whatever, in order to guarantee ad-banner revenue), so you're safe.

    I can say that if you're a 56k user, get a download app. It will be hefty.

    <a href="http://www.getright.com/" target="_blank">GetRight</a>

    This one is handy, as it does file segmenting, which actually can increase the download speed. Even 1K/sec makes a difference on a 56K.

    Its also easy to use.

    I heard the game was going to be about 10 gigs.   <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->   Heh...

    But really, this shouldn't be too big.  Probably won't be any larger than other major mods.  Not to much to worry about.  Unless you have a 56k.  Hah hah.

    You know how to solve that problem?  Just start the download before you go to bed, and the next morning you can install it and play it, all before breakfast.  Sounds good to me.

    Yep.  With GetRight, all you need to do is wait one night...

    I probably shouldn't say anything, but the install will probably be around 100 megabytes.

    I'm not sure if jetpacks will ship with v1.0, or soon after.  We're really taxed on the art side of things, and that would require some art that we don't currently have time for.  If it's not in the first version, it will be in soon after.

    Fortunately, such times won't be awaiting you, unless your connection is usually running with roughly 176 Bites/second.

    If so, I congratulate you for coming past the Flash menu <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    176 bytes/sec., that means 10560 bytes/minute.
    that means 10.3125 kb/minute times 34094094 minutes means the total is about 351595344.4 kilobytes which is 343354.8285 megabyte.

    I think NS will be a little bit smaller.

    - Im a freak, i know.

    Did I mention that I can only cope with maths as long as no numbers are included?

    Anyway, you're (of course) right, the real d/l speed would have to lie somewhere around 0.05 b/s if NS is 100 MB big. (Rugh estimate <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->)

    Just a suggestion (You probably have already thought about this).
    Make sure you tell everyone 2 days before the release of this mod where the mirrors will be. I once waited for a mod on the day of release for mirrors and that site crashed.. then the forum crashed... then the site that everyone thought it would be at crashed then another and we all ended up downloading it an hour later than we thought.
    Please don't make this mistake.

    I've seen a screen of Fileplanet reporting <i>negative two years</i> left to wait, when Nighthawk (The Opera head coder) was trying to get HL 1.1.0.9. It was funny in a sick way, considering it was the day of release but he'd already gotten it two years ago and just not known <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
