So that we can ban him right now, and save ourselves the trouble of encountering the same low-life.

I've just put up my server recently and i want to avoid lamers and cheaters from my server.

My list:

Cheaters:

None yet. (practically new server)

Lamers:

3058451 - reason: recycled everything in base in the middle of a perfectly good game for both teams

This seems like a terrible idea <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'> Although the theory is great, first off that would mean that second chances are no longer possible, second that if an admin mistook someone as a hacker, when they weren't, it would ruin their gaming experience for the future in NS, and finally if an admin just plain hated a person for no reason, that person's gaming would again be diminished.

Bad idea, we ban for exploites and racial,ethnic and sexual slurs. Not just hackers. All server rules are different. Also if a player shows remorse we unban sometimes. So you would need a list for that also.

Let us not be so negative. It's a great ideal very very very badly implemented. I could give you a dozen wonid's right now and tell awful things they have done - would you believe me? Why?
Evo and Scott made the point so I won't labour on it but I suggest you find a group of like minded admins and share a common set of rules and also a banlist. You will also need a dispute policy and your servers will need contact info and server group info on the consgreet.
There was a group of NSadmins who did this... what was their website address again?....

That reminds me. Sometime soon I'm probably gonna repackage the banlist sharing plugin I wrote for them and release it to the general public. Hopefully later today if I can remember to do it during all my slacking time.

This one works, and is great if you want to start up your own nsadmins-style website. The plugin works at this moment, but lacks a few "pet" features i'd like, but then again, i'm an Ahole.

I'm trying to strip out a few things that werent intended for the general public before I release, but have found that even when I recompile the fully working version of the plugin on my new linux box that it fails to work while the old build does work.

So apparently I haven't licked all my GCC issues yet.

uhm........ posting someones IP address is wrong. Now any one who visits these forums will know what it is.... please can a moderator take out the IP address

Wonids can only be used for HL
IPs can be used for so much more, and shouldnt be public, even ig the guy did make a cheat.

That was posted 7 hours ago, judging by the way the internet has been going in the past year or so, that ip has had atleast 10 attempted hacks now.

Someone like Jessen will have lots of wonids. Only sure way to ban him is to ban his IP.

These guys where on the absolut server until Princess came and banned them.

Reason: These guys did everything to earn a ban. They blocked ready room team doors and spammed voice chat with racial remarks about other players. They would jump in Comm chair and recycle everything and run off and hide so they wouldnt get killed. Eventually they just started putting comm chairs everywhere and just ruining the game for everyone. They have been banned from the absolut server and I suggest you do it to because these kids are some of the worst people I have ever met on a video game. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'>

No. The MAC address is used for LAN addressing only; the frame is stripped at each hop. The source MAC address of a frame that reaches your server will be the last hop to hand the packet off, generally the router in front of your server.

Just as a followup. I still haven't gotten my recompiling issues worked out. But if anyone is interested in helping to test this on a wider base of servers than we could get going with nsadmins.com then I'll be making the original NSAF branded version available for download.

NOTE:
This plugin / server set was one of my first programs to use internet communication and therefore comes with no warranty over breaking stuff or wasting your bandwidth.

Although this version did run for quite some time without any bug reports.

Can I just get a list with names and wonid's. I don't like banning people if I don't know their names, I usually only ban if I remember perhaps seeing that person do something before and just couldn't catch their won id.

The only way this works is if you post the reason for you banning them. You must say things like Suggested cheats or KNOWN cheats. There is a big difference. Let the admins know if they are serious offenders. That way since differnet servers have different rules you can go through the list and select only certain people. Or just print of a list of names every once in a while and keep it with you while you check on the server. just my thoughts.

Agreed with enforcer, and PLEASE mention names, therefore I can question people if they come in with the same name, before perhaps getting rid of them. I won't ban by just WONID's I have to perhaps see the person do some of the stuff, names help.
