mission= To transport people and cargo to different worlds.
time= 2:00 A.M
She was lying in bed, while listening to the scuttling noises in the vent, the noises started 3 days ago, she told her parents but they told her to ignore it and said it was a cat. Though she was only 12 years old, Lyra knew cats didn't make flapping noises like that of a bat or a bird . She thought for abit then decided to investigate in the morning.

time= 10:00 A.M
Lyra woke up from her sleep, checked the time, yawned,stretched, then headed to the canteen, she found her parents already at the table, she went round the tables with food on, took her usual 2 slices of toast with jam then joined her parents and toll them about last night and the noises.
"I heard those noises last night again" Lyra said as she ate her toast.
"Lyra you know it's just a animal, if it makes you feel any better i'll ask a guard to check it out later on hunni." Lyras mum said in a comforting voice
"No need darling, we arrive at Earth in 3 days." Lyras Dad grinned.

Time=3:00 P.M
Lyra heard a knock at the door and answered it.
"You the one with animal problems in the vent ?" A tall , black haired guard asked
"Yes i am" Lyra replied as she invited the guard in and took him to her bedroom vent.
The guard opened the vent, switched on his flashlight and peered inside.
"Hmmmm can't see any animals in here, BUT, there is some animal poo left, which is quite charming of the little fellow, and he left, by the looks of it some spike shaped bones, must have been a cat that ate some mice" The guard slowly pulled himself out, but froze as he look up.
"What is that ?" The guard said in a curious voice
"What is it ?" Lyra asked.
"Looks like some form of moss and vines and flowers." The guard replied as he pulled himself out of the vent. Then spoke into his radio.
" Sir we have some sort of weed growing in the vents, can you send down some cleaners ? Over. "
" Roger that Tim i'll send down 4 cleaners for you.Over. "
"Sorry about this." Tim said apologeticly as he turned to Lyra, then looked at her ghost white face that was in complete terror, as she pointed to the vent. Tim spun round and looked at the bat like creature in the vent looking at them, with a yelp Tim raised his Sub-machine gun and fired at the bat like creature, the instant the bullet left the clip, the creature shot out the vent clung to pipe above them and fired a volley of 5 centimeter long spikes into Tim, just before the 1st bullet that was shot reached the vent where the creature was hiding.....
Location= North of scotland, docking location of space vessel 343.
Mission= To ensure all space vessels reach destinations and guide ships.
Time= 5:07 P.M
Danny jogged down the hall way with the tape in his hand, took a left and barged open the door.
"Sir i got a message from space vessel 343." He panted as he got his breath back as he gave the tape to his boss.
" Ok Danny pass her here." As he slid the tape in and pressed played.
" This 343, we have a unknown life form onboard, presume a Kharaa lifeform. Everyone is evacuating, the Kharaa are bursting though our barricades, We need escort at co-ordinates X=34,6 Y=23.4, Z=55.8, we are in within 1 KM of 343 flight path at section 3*another voice can be heard* Come Man we are ditching this hell hole,*static* *The sound of spikes hitting metal can be heard in the back ground* 343 is lost, send help, 343 out,"The tape carried on playing, danny looked at his boss as they heard a heavy sound of wings flapping past the radio, then silence.
" Christ, Danny send squad 23 to those co-ordinates, NOW !!" He watched Danny leave the room, picked up his phone, dialed, waited then spoke.
" Get me the TSA. "

Mission= To study the Kharaa
Time= 9:00 A.M
He watched the lerks fly around their enclosure, cling to the ceiling and walls, with a yawn, Dr.Evans picked up his notes and left the hide box. He went through the underground passage to his office where he sat down and slumped into his chair, he sat their for a while running his fingers through his hair, then switched on his PC and checked his e-mails.
"Junk, junk , junk." He said to himself as he delted each letter in his in box but stopped at the forth letter.
Message from = J.Sharpe.
Subject = Need your help Steven =)
He clicked the message and read.
Hey steven!!
We kinda need your help, you see these guys lost contact with their ship called space vessel 343, so they want us to go in and clean up, and seeing how you like to study these parasites, thought you like to come along, it'll take your mind of Jenny for abit, you know ?
Evans looked down at his finger where his wedding ring use to be, he all of a sudden felt lonely again, he rubbed his finger then carryed on reading.
Give me a reply if your intertested.

Evans took a deep breath in then out, then clicked reply and started to type.
Sorry James but i'm not up too it, i've seen what these things can do, i'm pretty happy at the lab
He stopped, looked at what he typed, grinned then looked around at his office, deleted what he typed then typed
Sure, count me in James !!! i'll come to yours at midnight, see you then.
He then clicked send, and stared at the message sent icon, then got out the chair, headed to the front entrance and signed out.
"Night Barney." Evans said on his way out.
"Night Dr.Evans" Barney replied from his desk.
Evans got in his car, started his engine and started his journey to space vessel 343.

Mission= To respond to any sign of Kharaa threat
Time= 11.00 P.M
Evans and Sharpe where up all night preparing for the mission, Sharpe was introduced to the team memebers, Hawkeswill, Hudleston, Hogan, Ventura, Buckle and Smethurst. He packed all his equipment, picked armour that would fit him and headed towards his bedroom where he layed down, staring at the ceiling slowly drifting into a sleep.

Time= 7:00 A.M
Evans woke up to his alarm watch, then groaned, today they where heading for space vessel 343 and the horrors that would await them,he gloomily climbed out of bed and headed to the canteen, the team where all up and ready, all of them had a serious exspression on their face, there wasn't much conversation at the table after they finished their own meal they left the table one by one.
Location=TSA Space port Galio, docking wing 19
Mission= To navigate space crafts and ensure they luanch and dock safely.
Time= 10:00 A.M
Evans entered the docking wing, the team was all ready there making their last preperations.
" Hey Evans, come on board, she's nice and cosy inside." Sharpe called from the craft's rampart. Evans walked across the docking wing as the team started boarding the ship, it was cramp inside but cosy, Evans sat down next to sharpe and listened the conversations going on over the flight box.
"Craft 13 you are clear for launch, Craft 42 elevate 200 meters, craft 12 wait 1 minute while craft 65 docks. " Evans saw the blast doors opening as a craft enetered the docking bay.
"Ok craft 12 ready for launch, standy.....launching craft 12 to space vessel 343." The engine started up as they slowly left the hanger , turned then shot of to space vessel 343.

Mission = Investigate space vessel 343
Time= 11:10 A.M
"So Evans, you ever seen these things without some bars in the way ?" Smethurst asked. Evans shooked his head.
" I seen these guys up close with no bars in the way." Smethurst said happily.
" BAH !, you all haven't seen her, every one calls her hard wind." Hawkeswill said gloomily from his dark corner. Hard wind was a myth, a rumour, it was suppose to be an relative of the Lerk, she was rumoured to be 12 meters long and the wing span of 10 meters, she could fire 12 inch long spikes and knock you over with her powerful wing beats and she is ment to be older than the stars themselves.
Hawkeswill pointed to his eye patch "This proves she's real, when i see her im gunna rip both her eyes out and kill all her friends too like she did to mine." Everyone was silent for the whole trip, Evans then saw the dark grey ship draw nearer, they had arrived at space vessel 343, they slowly came close to the docking tunnel, connected on to it, the doors opened. They had docked with space vessel 343.

Mission=cancelled due to Kharaa infestation
time=11:42 A.M
The air was cool as they undid their chair belts, they slowly entered space vessel 343, the lights where still on, though there were signs of a fire fight happening.
"Ok guys listen up, what we will do is blow the ship up by activating the self-destruct mode in the enigine room, but first we will check for survivors, Hawkeswill and Hudleston you take floor 5, Smethurst and Buckle you take floor 4, Hogan and Ventura you take floor 3, me and Evans here will take floor 2, then after you searched your floor meet up at floor 1. Good luck every one."James instructed. As every one activated their heart beat sensors and went their ways.
"So Steven what kinda of parasite are we dealing with ?" James asked.
"Well by the looks of it some Lerks, as you can see here."Steven replied, as he gestured to some marks on the wall.
"These are the spikes the lerks fire, capable of firing loads in just a matter of seconds, but strangely there is no sign of the Kharaa, no skulk wall scrtaches, Fade acid rockets or Onos horn marks ." Steven said.
"Maybe it's survivors ?"Hudleston asked.
"Of course it isn't survivors, listen." Hawkeswill snapped back. They could both hear the sound of multiple wings flapping.
"Quick behind this."Hawkeswill instructed as he took cover behind a metal tube. He then looked at the heart beat sensor, what ever it picked up it was 10 meters ahead.
"Ok when i say now fire."Hawkeswill whispered to Huddleston who nodded and pointed his light machine gun down the hall way.
" 3 ,2 ,1 , NOW !" Hawkeswill shouted as he started firing. They then ducked as a volley of spikes where shot at them.
" It's lerks, quickly shoot them." Hawkeswill ordered. They both raised from their cover and fired, they could here shrieking from the darkness where they were firing into, Hudleston's aim was thrown of as hail of spikes was shot at him, he ducked down and started reloading, while reloading he noticed the bullet cases being blown towards where they were firing, puzzled he looked up at where the bullets where being blown from, and froze, Hawkeswill curious why Hudleston wasn't firing, ducked behind cover, glanced at his partner, then turned to see what Hudleston was looking at, he then smirked and said " Hello Hard wind."
"This is incredible !!!" Evans exlaimed as he looked around.
" This is suppose to take 100 years to make !" He said happily.
" What ? it takes a bunch of space moss, vines, flowers 100 years to grow ?" Sharpe asked.
" These aren't any normal flowers James, these are plants made by the Kharaa, but something made them grow fast, which is strange as there isn't much bacterium on the ship to let them grow fast." Evans replied as he took samples , then froze, stared and jogged to what he was looking at.
" look at this." He called to Sharpe, Sharpe drew his light machine gun and jogged over to Evans.
"It's just a bunch of soil."He said, Evans started digging it up, then put his hand in and pulled out a helmet.
"No, these are graves for Humans." He said puzzled.
"That means someone burried them, like a survivor." Sharpe said with some hope in his voice.
" Then who buried the Lerks ?" Evans asked as he pulled a dead lerk out of a nearby grave. Sharpe was silent.
"Something is going on here."Evans said quielty.
" You bet there is, something is coming this way." Sharpe said as he looked at his heart beat sensor, he dragged Evans to a large bush, told him to be quiet and waited. What seems liked hours was only a few minutes, a lerk flew past and landed by a patch of soil, Sharpe raised his pistol slowly, but Evans tapped him shook his head and carryed on watching. The Lerk had 5 others around it as they started digging a large hole in the ground , they eventually stopped and made another large hole, then made each one made a small hole big enough for it to fit in, when they were done they made a clicking noise and flew off.
"What are they doing ?" Whispered Sharpe.
" Digging by the looks of it." Whispered back Evans, then he pointed back to the holes, the Lerks were back but each one was carrying a dead Lerk and gently placing it back, the other Lerks not doing anything were, to Evans amazment weeping their dead. Then the Lerks that carryed the dead Lerks flew back and dragged a human shape body and placed it into a hole, they then covered it in soil and repeadted the process with another human shape body, they then put soil over the dead lerk graves and then circled the graves, and then something beyond Evans wildest imagination happened, the Lerks around the graves started singing, it was the sound a nightingale would sing though it was much more smooting, then the vines and moss slowly growed over the graves and then a flower grew above each grave, when the vines, moss and flower stopped growing, the singing Lerks stopped their angelic singing and left, the mourning Lerks slowly stopped and payed their last respect to the dead by placing a flower they picked off a tree by them and placed it on a grave, even the human ones, they then gave one last call and flew off.
"What the hell just happened here ?" Sharpe asked as he headed towards the human graves.
" Looks like they buried their dead and ours." Evans replied as Sharpe digged up the human graves, and stared, it was Hawkeswill and Hudleston.
" THOSE BLASTED FLYING CREEPS !!!!" Sharpe shouted as he stood up and looked round, Evans stared at the bite marks on their chest, what ever bit them it was huge, then Evans remembered what Hawkeswill told them.
" Hard Wind." He whispered as a shiver went up his spine. Sharpe looked at him in, then spun round as they heard foot steps approching.
" Sir we waited for you on level 1 but you didn't turn up so we came after you." Buckle said as they all approached the Sharpe with a tear in his eyes.
" Ok guys, lets move out." Sharpe ordered.
" Shouldn't we wait for Hawkeswill and Hudleston ? " Ventura asked.
Sharpe gestured towards the graves, they all approached the graves and stared, lost for words, Hogan got down on his knees and said a quick prayer, then stood up.
" Come on guys, let's go on." Sharpe ordered as he walked ahead, they all followed while Evans covered the garves back up and followed on.

" Want us to set up a base sir ?" Hogan asked.
" No we won't be here for long " Replied Sharpe.
" Ok guys listen up we are heading to the engine level where we can blow up the ship." Ordered Sharpe.
" Erm i have a better idea." Evans spoke out nervously.
" What is it ?" Asked sharpe.
" Could we not just send the ship flying off into deep space ? " Asked Evans. Everyone stared at him as though he was crazy.
" I'm sorry Steven but we can't risk it, what if they managed to get off the ship ?" Sharpe replied. Evans was silent.
" Ok guys pack your stuff we are of to the engines." Sharpe odered. Everyone nodded stod up and started the journey to the Engines.
Location= Space vessel 343
Mission= Cancelled due to Kharaa infestation
Time= 5:06 P.M
They were near the engines they could tell by the heat in the air an without running into any trouble, though Evans couldn't help the feeling they were being followed.
" Can we rest sir ? My feet are Killing me!" Smethurst exlaimed as he sat down and rubbed his boots.
" Yeah ok, we will move out in 10 minutes." Sharpe replied as they all sat down. Evans pulled out some chocolate and started eating it, while he snapped off a piece of chocolate a small block of it landed by the corner.
" Sir we have company !" Whispered Hogan as a Lerk came out of the corner and started eating the peice of chocolate that was by the corner. Sharpe turned looked at Hogan and nodded as Hogan drew his pistol. The Lerk sensing danger quickly flew out the room and into the corridor.
" COME BACK HERE YOU RUNT ! " Hogan shouted as he chased after the Lerk, he stood out into the corridor and fired his pistol, Evans put his hands over his ears and watched what happened. A Lerk flew past Hogan biting a wee chunk of his arm, 7 more flew past him also biting wee chunks of him, 19 more Lerks flew past him also taking their own wee chunks out of him, 32 more Lerks flew past Hogan taking their own chunks aswell, then she came. Evans was frozen on the spot as a 12 meter long creature snatched Hogan in it's jaws and flew down the corridor. Everyone stared at each other in horror, in a matter of seconds the lerks ate half his body and then she carryed him off, Hard wind took Hogan right before their eyes.
" My god." Whispered Sharpe.
" Let's get moving quick guys before they come back." Ordered Sharpe, every one rose up while Evans rose up with shaky legs and followed them. There was signs of Hogan being carried this, they found his chest armour, Helemt and his left boot along the way. They finally arrived at the engines, Ventura hacked open the doors by the scanner and watched with everyone else in amazment at what was inside the engine room.

Time= 5:49 P.M
It was like the garden Evans was in where they saw the Lerks bury the dead, but this was much more impressive, everywhere there was the moss and vines and the flowers that where found on the graves but also there was strange looking trees with colorful buds and strange birds singing in the trees though not as angelic as the Lerks.
" Where are the Engines ?" Buckle asked.
" Well they are on the other side of this level." Smehturst replied as he studied the map. Sharpe nodded and walked in the direction of the engines.
They all suddenly realised that the strange birds weren't the only flying creatures in here, there were Lerks too, Sharpe looked up he knew they were out numbered, but they weren't attacking then it dawned on him, the Lerk in the corner when they were resting just before Hogan was lost, didn't attack, they only attacked him when he shot at them.
" Don't shoot them and they won't kill us." Sharpe ordered, every one switched to the safety setting on their weapons and carryed on walking, Evans was amazed by all this, he was taking photos faster than the camera could wind to the next film.
" Incredible, just incredible." He said to himself.
" Heh you were always amazed by this weren't you hunni ?" A voice from behind him said. He slowly turned round and froze. There was jenny standing before him, beautiful as always, her pretty brown eyes and her long brown hair.
" You always came home, into bed talking about what you did at the lab." Jenny carried on speaking as though everything was normal. Evans tryed to open his mouth but nothing came he still tryed to speak but nothing came out.
"Awww lost for words ? You were like this when we first met." She said as she stroked his cheek with her hands, it felt smooth but icy cold. Finally Evans found some words to say.
"Your not real are you ?" He asked.
"Depends what you think real is, real as in the real Jenny then yes i am, real as in human then no." She replied with that beautiful smile. Evans finnaly found the words he was looking for.
" Oh god i missed you babe, it's horrible without you, i'm so lonely, i want you back soooo much!" He cried out as he embraced her.
Sharpe heard Evans cry out something and raced towards him, he sent the others on wards, he climbed the mound of moss where Evans was heard, but stopped as a familiar voice talked to him.
" Sir i suggest you leave them for abit." Came the familiar voice, Sharpe turned round and stared in disbelief.
" Hawkeswill ? Hudleston ? how ? what ? i mean whats going on ? whos them ?" Sharpe asked still starring.
" Well sir we're ghost you could say, and when i say leave them alone i ment Evans and his girl. Anyway this garden seems to bring you back the people or person you want, in this case us 3." Hawkeswill explained as
Hogan joined them.
"Hogan ! i'm sorry, i should have gone out there into the corridor instead of you." Sharpe said apologetically.
" Bah it's no biggy sir, makes you any feel better you can visit my grave, the Lerks buryed me, which is kinda cool, though it was creepy i saw my self being buryed, but they then sang this beautiful song and the stuff grew fast." Hogan replied.
"Yeah take me to your grave." Sharpe said as he followed Hogan. On the way he spoke into his radio,
" Buckle, Smethurst, Ventura come to me i have something to show you over ."
"How do you come back as a ghost or spirit ?" Asked Steven.
" Not exactly sure how, but i know what does." She smilied and started walking off, Steven quickly followed her.
" Steven you going to blow up the ship ?" Jenny asked. Steven slowly nodded his head. her face quickly turned serious.
" DON'T !!! you can't kill them, look how kind they are. They don't want to fight they want to live a normal life." She gestured towards nest on the ground where a mother Lerk was feeding her babies, they carried on going forwards, holding each others hands. The place was beautiful, she was right Evans thought, we can't just blow it up, we have to sed it into deep space then stopped.
" What is it ?" Jenny asked.
"Once we are done here we will never see each other again, and you'll only be a memory in my head, that's the worst thing to remember someone by." Evans replied gloomily. Jenny smilied then spoke softly.
" Then take this as a memory." As she took her wedding ring of her hand slowly putted it on Steven's and kissed him. God he missed, then he listened, the Lerks were singing again, but so was somethingelse, something more angelic than he could even dare dream off, he withdrew from the kiss and looked up. There was Hard Wind slowly lowering her self down to the ground, she landed gracefully and sniffed them.
" Heh, hunni this is as you all called her Hard wind, but her real name is Ekulo, it's her who brings us ghosts or spirits back." Jenny told himm whi;e she petted Ekulo.
" How ?" Asked Evans.
" There is a flower in this garden that brings us back, it takes 100's of years to grow, but with her around the garden grows fully in a few weeks and eventually it can make the flower that brings us back." Jenny replied. Ekulo made a clicking noise as though as she understood and started dragging Steven.
" She wants you to follow her." Said Jenny.
"Wait for me ok ?" Instructed Steven as he was dragged of, Jenny nodded and made a mocking salute. Ekulo was gentle , she had stronger more developed wings than the Lerk and a Larger tail. She took Evans to a hill where Lerks surronded it, at first Evans thought they where dead but on closer inspection, it seemed to him that they were praying to the giant plant on top of the hill. Ekulo dragged him to the top of the hill and nudged the plant, a seed, no bigger than Evans hand fell out, he picked it up stared at it then nodded as he undertsood her, she wanted him to grow this plant aswell, so he could have Jenny's ghost back, Ekulo then called to the Lerks praying, they then started the song Evans heard when they were digging the graves.
" I know what she gave you." Jenny said as Steven returned with his seed.
" Evans come in over." Came a vocie from his radio. he quickly fumbled about for it in his jacket then aswered it.
" Yeah what is it Sharpe." He asnwered back.
" We started the engines up, we ain't blowing her up we sending her into deep space like you asked we are heading to the craft see you soon over." Sharpes voice came through the radio. Evans felt his heart stop beating they were leaving.
" Come with me Jenny. " Evans asked.
" I can't if i leave the flower too far i'll dissappear, that's why you must go and plant yours." She replied as she put her hands over the seed he carryed.
" Come with me to the craft please." Evans pleaded. Jenny smilied kissed him on the cheek and replied.
" Of course i will. "
" Where is Evans ?" Asked Smethurst.
" He's coming just hold on." Replied Sharpe
" Well this has been down right bizzare mission. " Joked Ventura, Sharpe left the craft and looked down the hall way and watched as the corridor door opened, out came Evans holding Jenny's hand, Sharpe smilied waved at Jenny and got back on the craft.
" Well this is it i guess. " Evans said gloomily.
" Until your one is fully grown, it's not goodbye fully, it's just a long break." Jenny replied smiling, she then took Evans head closer to hers and kissed him on the lips. He put her arms around her, hoping to wake up and hope it's a dream but it never happened, they eventually stopped.
" I'll miss you." He whispered.
" I'll miss you too. " She replied, he slowly walked onto the craft and turned aroud to look at her one more time, her long brown hair still beautiful as ever, her lovely brown eyes he gave one final wave as the doors closed and he sat down starring at his seed then his wedding ring, no, Jennys wedding ring a gift from her, he sat back in his chair and felt the craft detach from the ship an head on back home.
" So Evans you thinking about joining the TSA ?" Asked Ventura. Evans looked at the seed then at space vessel 343, then he smilied and replied.
" No thanx, but i might become a gardener." As he patted his seed and watched space vessel 343 slowly go out off into deep space.
" So what we ment to say when we get back to base ?" Asked smethurst.
" Let's not worry about that now shall we? " Replied Sharpe as clsoed his eyes and tryed to get some sleep.
She was right, Evans thought, it's not goodbye it's just a short break.

that's the end of my story i know it's not all blood and guts i thought i could take on a different approach to the Lerks, so post any comments if you like.

the story is well writen, and from what i gathered, it didnt matter if the lerks killed the person, the flower just returned those who you care about to you?

It was that dark corner of the park, her lovely brown hair blowing into her face, him opening the wee box, the gold ring inside, her smiling and saying yes, then the chuckle from the bush, the dark figure emerging from the bush, the 2 pieces of metal covering the cheeks of the figure's of it's face, the demanded for the ring, the answer no, the gun shot into her, the figure fainting away, chuckling, the image of her lying down, the 3 words before she left him, "i love you."
Evans woke up, sweat covering his body and damping his pillow, panting heavily he looked round the room hoping for her, not seeing her he turned and looked at the soul plant, not much change, only a wee stem poking out, before his head reached he damp pillow he jumped and yelped, only to realise it was the phone, wondering who was phoning at this hour he picked up the phone and put it to his ear.
" Hello ?"
" Steven it's James, you gotta come quickly to my house then leave to Galio, something is going on, someone is on space vessel 343 and it's not us."
The lie went dead after James placed down his phone, Steven, sitting in bed while slowly taking in what James said, then realising what he said, he quickly started to change his clothes, while thinking who was on the ship, then realising what was on it, the lerks, Ekulo, the soul plant, his wife's ghost...
let's hear the origional version, I don't care that frost spoiled it...
it was a little wierd with the singing lerks and that whole thing... but a very creative story none the less.
