My tip,try to get to that comm chair,drop down ip and armoury,nothing else in case of start rush of skulks,look for their hive by looking for sounds of hive/res/skulk walk.Then Drop Down Observatory at base,wait until got 45 RP,Upgrade MT,now you should command your marines by squads of 2 to take Horseshoe,Triad,And the one node near marine base,but put TF only at triad and horseshoe(in case ya need check point),get one hive,make Pg's,make 2 more res,try get second hive locked down and make pg there,now ya can make arms lab at your base and a TF(in case skulks try to make you distracted and get marines out of hives)and couple turrets,now upgrade armor,yes armor upgrade it first up,then make Prototype lab,research Jetpacks and Heavy armor,drop down 2 Jetpacks for marines and 1 shotgun and 2 welders,tell them both guard the hive with vents/2 entretances (depends wich one of 3 you take),now get first weapon upgrade,call all Light armored marines to base,drop down HA to each of them,welders,and 2 Shotguns and rest HMG's(Hmg's for hive,shotguns for skulks gorges lerks etc).Upgrade weapons still,your assault might fail.

if aliens attacking are strong enough i dont try to make 2nd hivelockd down u need the 100 and more res for ur upgrds
if start hive is eclipse, i try the hivelockd
if aliens weak i just build pg mines and no tf to lock it down ,perhaps 1 or 2 marines
theres no perfect strat couse it depends on if u have counterstrike players or really "i know what i do NS-Marines"

If I were some idiotic internet tool I would say that I just "pwned" you probably. God I wish that "word" would die. I actually ran across some kid the other day who said "powned" over voice comm rather than "owned". I wanted to shoot myself =(
Aaaaaanyways, eclipse is a pretty easy map for marines to win as long as you have 2 guys who are decent with JP/HMG. CC is one of the easiest hives on any map for marines to kill because of that vent, unless there's a really smart gorge who blocks it and even then HMG's should be able to bust through. I can't remember the last time I've seen a 2 hive lockdown fail on eclipse....
capture and defend horseshoe, station access and triad - 4 res nodes = more than enough (easiest if hive is cc)
upgrad armoury
armslab, protolab, lvl 1 wep, jps
send marines down to south loop, cap maintenace and sl, and put pressure on cc
capture powersub
give marines hmgs, jps, shotties etc
send marines into cc, drop an armoury, place loads of mines, destroy hive
it does fail
played this game a few nights ago, ended up lasting about 1 1/2 hours with 2 teams of good players. i was on alien
start hive: maintenace
everything's going well, marines are contained in base and have only the base res node. they manage to grab triad and save up enough res for some upgrades.
in mid game, they have locked down eclipse and are keeping us contained in the hive by constantly attacking it from the upper platform with lmgs. another squad manages to build up a siege in keyhole despite our best efforts. they siege the hive, but not before we get computer core up. one of us has enough res to go fade and does so with redemption.
they move out the back of cc (they still have very few res nodes) and manage to get a pg and a siege up. we manage to clear eclipse and their main start so they relocate to outside cc. this was were it started to go wrong. they siege cc hive but eclipse is on the way. at this point, we have defence (form maitenace) and movement (from cc) when eclipse goes up, we got some more dcs and begin attacking them again.
we destoy all thier res nodes and manage to clear maintenace so we get that hive up. the rest of us are attacking at their base, carapaced skulks with celerity means that the turrets are useless. the tf goes down beacause a blindspot was opened and from there on its only about 1 minute until the game is over.
at one point in the game they technically had a three hive lock down - maintenace was still in danger of being sieged, they were outside cc and there were still some turrets in ec
the main reason the marines lost was becasue of the map bug that meant you cant do anything in the commchair. that and the fact that only a few of the marines actually did what the comm wanted.
it swung both ways a number of times, yet was only considered epic by the aliens. the marines just found it tedious.
Never rebase.
-Always send suicide squads to apply hive pressure/gorg hunt.
Gather the safe res.
eG: the hive is eclipse ill send most me team to grab main res, leave one behind and rest grab southloop. Mine base send base def to grab horseshoe. Hold those points while main gets one TF and 4x turrets (at this stage there a deterent, skulks rarely rush untill later game with lv3 cara).
With 4 RT your well on the way to winning the game, get arms lab, fuk phase gates for now.
Grab/fight over CC. Success is not garunteed but neither is it vital. Send rines to grab power sub junction res. Keep upgrading then place 2 more turrets at main. Grab res outside CC and rush ecplise. Keep aliens dieing to protect your res income!
Note 5 RT will win the game! Just keep upgrading. The pitfulls to avoid is DOTN WASTE RES ON BUILDINGS THAT KEEP DIEING LIK TF PHASES ETC! Who cares if u dont lock down a second hive or dont seige base hive!.
Get HA! Turn your lmg into "elite" lmg with lv3 attack!
Fades will die!
Fades are few and far between!
4HA with hmg vs one hive HA will win 9/10!
res+ upgrades and hive lockdowns a distant 3rd!
MT is a luxery, skulks are noisey!
phases? nice but not necessary ill rather have lv 2 attack than 2 phases!
I havent lost ecplise since i had lv3 lmg who still couldnt kill base skulks lol.
Once again the marines go Maint. Our hive is Eclipse. I gorged, took Triad, Marine start, Station acces, Power sub junction and CC with a single skulk as a part time bodyguard. When I arried to CC, I had full res and the owerflow was <b>huge</b>.
If the aliens are in eclipse :- Take CC hive then south loop/maint. Get res and tech up.
If the aliens are in Maint :- Try for CC, if the aliens are good the best you'll manage is to disctract them while you send 1 or two good men to get eclipse, triad, station access and sub juction res points. Lock eclipse down good (build clustered round the res point to avoid the bug) and tech up.
If the aliens are in CC :- unlucky! but try getting maint and southloop plus any other res you can grab, then push into CC whilst letting them take eclipse hive. This gives you time to (yes you guessed it) tech up while they rebuild the hive.
