Building Limits?

why for aliens but not marines?
One thing i don't understand:

marines can turret farm a room ... they can just keep on building. you can drop multiple TF's, and hundreds of turrets if u got the room and res.

but aliens have a fairly tight limit on building walls of lame? i don't understand why...

would it not be fairer to set a limit to how many Turrets per factory? and how many factories close ?

ie: 6 turrets to a factory, and no more than 2 factories in close proximity?

(apologies if this should have gone in S&I forum, but its more of a question than a suggestion :O)

I agree. It should be changed one way or the other (either no limit or some limit for both sides), and for balance, giving both sides a limit would probably be better.

Perhaps it's because a WoL is fire-and-forget but a turret farm requires a marine and a welder to maintain?

yah WoL has D chambers to heal it, TF doesn't, maybe if the TF released some type of nano-bot to weld the turrets automatically it'd be fine

as for marines those things kill them easily anyhow no matter if they have armor or not.

i still think that aliens have it better as in that power as an ono.

Not really, not to a Jetpack/HMGer. Not to mention, with fully upgraded weapons, you can take out a Fade with a machinegun in less than a clip. With 3 clips, what can you do to an Onos? Kill it. Easily.

There is a marine structure cap currently, which is buggy. Sometimes you can't drop meds or guns becuase of it, but it is there currently

Obviously they would refine it. All the more reason to wait for 1.1.

While you're waiting, it gets better and better. I know that as long as I wait, it will all be worth it. For example, Half-Life 2. When I first saw the trailer, and saw that it was coming out in Septemer 30th, I went insane. But later, I realized, that if they take this much time to make it, it's gotta be good.
Besides--do you want them to release it right now, all buggy and unbalanced?

(and if they keep talking about it like this.. they will bump it up and up and up.. when its finally released we look at it, errr this wasnt what i was expecting)

There are way too many games that are released too early and thus turn out to be crappy games.
Blizzard has yet to release a moderately good game. All their games have been godlike.
And it is all because they don't release it until it's done.

If money didn't rule the world, we would be seeing a lot more excellent games.

well at least let more people test it, a small group of the most elite is not a way to test a game - never has it ever been!

but really, it isn't a problem... if the marines turret farm a room... they just wasted uber res on a bunch of useless turrets, go eat their base...

Why not release 1.1 now? Well, take a look at Oni. Bungie Studios had an excellent reputation. ALL the games they had brought us so far were masterpieces: Pathways into Darkness, Marathon, Marathon 2, Marathon Infinity, Myth, Myth 2. In develoment they had this game, Oni, a 3rd-person shooter/fighter hybrid. God how mouthwatering. Development took time. Lots of time. Sadly, it even took so much time that they ran into financial problems and were bought out by Microsoft (the Mac gaming communtiy reeled in horror!). I for one thought: "With the financial backing of Microsoft, they're gonna have the time to make this game perfect." The problem is that at some point Microsoft started asking: How long yet? And, hearing a dissatisfying answer, the pushed Bungie into releasing Oni NOW. We ended up with a game that showed true potential, but only had singleplayer with a mediocre storyline (Bungie fans had become used to rich and thick plotlines with twists that put contortionists to shame) and NO multiplayer. Obviously a tech demo, it was just a showoff of the engine's capabilities, with Bungie hoping that somebody would buy the engine (and me too, so I could finally get a great game). Alas, nothing to this effect happened, and Oni faded away.
Do we want something like this to happen to NS?
