Dedicated server fund
Well, I guess this as good place as any to leave this post for the final time

For all you newer people, I am trying to get a package of about 5 servers, to be used in online training and to ensure they are some quality servers around when the mod does get released (aside from any other servers people are getting). Well, I started a little donation fund, I chipped in $500 US to start it off and well, you can read all about it here. So far I have recieved about $100 and hopefully some more is on the way, thanks guys!

I can't send in that form, since I have to use web-based e-mail, my firewall is stopping pop mail. (The same firewall that will keep me from playing NS online, rats.)

Could you pm me your e-mail address or what ever?

I think the rest of the community should thank you, Comprox, as this wouldn't be possible without your iniative.

Orginally, it was when you gave money you said if you wanted to be a helper, or server admin. Then I think Flay said that he wants to be able to pick who does what so if you give money and say "Helper" you might become a helper. Althought, I bet it boosts your chances of becoming one.

Uh, where does Flay factor into this? Flayra has nothing to do with this/decisions based on it. I'll get your my address right away, missed the email I guess :/

Oh I would send you money, but as I live in Germany, there would be no use for me with american or canadian server as I would get a 500 ping there.
(sounds egoistic and greedy, but think about, would you donate money for a german server when living in the us?)

    Anyway wish you luck.

Well, over the summer I'll be making truckloads of the green stuff (actually it's different colours in Canada, much more practical, you can tell which bill is which at a glance, none of this hunting around for a number kind of thing), so if you could send me your address in a pm or a email message, you'll receive a tidy sum in the mail sometime over the summer, hopefully before NS is released

Hey Comprox, in lieu of a check, is it alright for me to send you a horrible, massed wad of bills instead? I.E. cash, instead of check...

<lesson on canadian money> Is true, and the 20's and up have this little reflective rectangle. If u've got small bills u can tell which ones the twenty instantly. and the new 10 is a completly new look which is also completly new colors, and u can feel the difference between a loonie and twonie. (our 1 and two $ coins [btw they might call the twonie something different in different parts of the country, i don't think they ever chose an official name, coarse i was in grade 2 or there abouts so i don't remember too well]) </lesson on canadian money>

Yes, it's called the toonie here too, I believe that is the official name. Hehe, you can pop the center out of those with a hammer. Of course, not that I would deface government property....

can also use a freezer cause they're two different metals so they contract at different rates, but of coarse i wouldn't because i too wouldn't want to deface government property.

English notes are all different sizes, different colours, pretty, with threaded emtal strips and watermarks in them. Beautiful. Plus our lowest note is worth about $7, so a big wad of notes is much nicer than the same size in USA.

As for NSDF, I shall see what my cash situation is after college-leaving celebrations, paintball and my LAN. If I have any left over, ill send it. As a few of our fancy notes.

with the amount of people around here, i thought it would be easy enough to get free servers... perhaps not for training though... whatever

anyway, i recommend that you set up a paypal account so peeps dont have to send money through the mail. it would be a lot easier too.

Well, the odd person says Paypal is great and I have done some looking into it. There seems to be a ton of IF's all over it. IF such and such, we will take 5% of donation for service charge, BUT IF such and such, we will take 7% service charge and IF such and such we will take $2 service charge, yadda yadda. They just seem to be able to take money away under all these weird conditions that I couldn't seem to wrap my mind around

paypal is still the best online payment program
the other ones ask even more % of each transaction
  • CrematorCremator Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 27Members
    yeah...

i suppose i shouldn't praise paypal because it does cost some money, but it is way easier than sending stuff in the mail and still cheaper than any other online thing...
