Nother Server Rant, Sorry ;)

Number of players per?
What is NS balanced for player wise? Personally I like a nice 8 on 8 game. 10 on 10 is about as high as I like, anything beyond and I think its WAY to crowded and really makes gameplay suffer.

I see quite a few servers with 24+ people and frankly, I think those hosts should just host two 12 person servers or something. While cramming as many on a server as possible may sound good, I think it makes for a less playable and less enjoyable game. Tends to have less organization and more "everyone do what you want" which in turn really makes it tough on marines since marines NEED to be organized.

Opinions? does anyone LIKE 22+ servers? If so, why?

6v6 and 7v7 are the best games...if people actually stayed the entire game

thats what I enjoy the most. But for some reason people think that having a 32 player server is the best. Its really sad to see a good server go to waste cause the host wants to try and show off and squeeze a few extra people onto it.

I find large games very enjoyable, as long as the server/network can handle it. All too often when these big servers get full everybody playing suffers ping spikes and huge choke. I'd rather play on a nice fast 16 player server than a laggy 24 player. The advanage of having 15 players on each side is that chances are both teams will have a couple of n00bs and a few good players with a scatering of average players making up the numbers. In a 6vs6 game it only takes one idiot going rambo or afk or gorge to ruin you whole teams chances.

I ran a 30, then 24, now 20 person server (my other 2 servers are at 18). The only issues I ran into is the larger server tended to suck in idiots. Every 13 year old on the internet would refresh all servers, sort by server size and jump on the largest one with open spots.

I disagree with the 'its harder on marines because of organization' observation. Typically the marines won strictly due to respawn rates.
Dropping the server size got rid of quite a few tards that infested my servers for some time.

Well come on over to my server Connect cs.chimayhem.com:27017 in console, no my server is not chi mayhem, but its run in the same area but with better pings

But I must say, I like large servers, its good that some people offer them, the rant is rather pointless as there are so few extremely large servers, but I would love to play on one if the lag wasn't so horrendous

Well at least I know its not just me who thinks that large servers attract tards. I joined the CFL 22 player server the other day and had to leave almost instantly. The server just has so many idiots. Im hesitant to call them 13 year olds though because its not always little kids.

So then the conclusion i get is most people hate stacking servers with the bot things to draw people, and most people hate large games. Thats a good thing

The action fans seem to prefer the larger games, while those who flock to NS for the strategy element like smaller ones. In a 12-16 player game, if one team doesn't coordinate and strategize, they'll lose to the other team who is. There's nothing like working hard for a victory and achieving it as a team. Winning by numbers, luck, or team-stacking of skilled individuals isn't nearly as satisfying.
