Quite the catch, eh? Everyone wants to PLAY 1.1, but who truly wants to PLAYTEST it? Where I work, testing is the most boring part of programming, and yet without it you don't have a worthwhile product as you aren't sure of its stability and integrity. I would have liked to playtest 1.1 to try and help make it a better game, but that is no longer an option.
Once more, I did not mean for this to become a "I wanna be a playtester" thread. My bad.

im in this community from around 6 months before NS was released and have never begged for any playtesting/veteran status. I think pple should not worry about that. Its true, maybe its friendship, maybe its hard work, lots of forum posting and IRC hours but it all ends in if you really add something to this community. 3/4 of the pple who beg for 1.1 testing only want it to play it and go to sleep. Its not that.
Playtesting requires hours spend in not playing but looking for code bugs, map bugs, etc... its really hard work and not that much fun. From the 1 year and 2 months ive been around here ive recieved +v on both #naturalselection and #evolutionarily at IRC and i still think thats too much award for someone who only maps and ocassionally chats a bit. Please dont beg and stop this stupid posts of who should be this and who should be that, that doesnt help here. Just have this in mind, if you really add to the community then you got many chances to get to be someone here.
I don't remember who said it earlier, but he was right. Begging doesn't get you anywhere. If anything it just makes you seem kind of childish. I know that I can get giddy at just the thought of NS 1.1 release, but I don't beg anyone to be a playtester or to get special treatment. I play NS to get as much out of it as I can. If I was a beta tester, great, but I'm not and it really doesn't matter to me because I know that I will eventually get to play it. Im not going to go crazy trying to be the first one.

And the thing about the clanners. I don't want to be anti-clanner here, but WHY THE HELL were they chosen to participate in PUB-style playtests? Clanners have winning-the-game in mind when they play NS, not the fun that comes in the process. NS is not an exclusively clan game, in fact I believe it's more of a pub-style game. When I read firewater's (not meaning to be personal here, but he is a prominent clanner) posts on the Beta forum, I can't help but think that he's interested in WINNING the game rather than PLAYING the game. Like he was talking about the cheap solo JP+HMG hive-killing mission, and he said "it was harder to do this time around" or whatever. You see for a clanner, a JP+HMG solo is a good thing because it means a quick end to the game, but in the context of a game it ISN'T FUN.
If they were goin to have clanners PTing beta versions, they should at least seperate clan games from pub games.
