The Onos will be able to walk up to any player and chomp him down. The devoured player's screen fades black, and they see their health slowly start counting down as they are digested. The Onos can't eat another player while he's digesting someone. Meanwhile, the player hears a background heartbeat sound and some gurgling sounds, and all the combat noises "outside" will be muffled and distorted (as if hearing them from inside the belly of a large creature). If the Onos is killed before the player is fully digested, the player pops out with his current health.
One of the neat things about this ability is that it effectively removes the player from play for a short time (30 seconds max). They're not dead, so they can't respawn.
By the way, this ability is much like the Kodo Beast ability in Warcraft III, but I assure you I had this idea a long time ago. Even if I didn't, I would still use it because it fits the Onos' new ability perfectly (more information forthcoming).
Update: 1) Nope, marines won't be able to attack in any way while being digested. They will probably still be able to talk to their team though. 2) This does replace an existing Onos ability, but I don't want to give out too much. Yes, some of the existing alien abilities are being replaced with new abilities but I think most people will agree that the new abilities are far better then the old ones...

Hopefully all the /stuck code admins run on their servers will be modded to not work if you're inside an Onos

So far, yes, kill and going to the readyroom are both disabled while you're in the onos' belly.
