Top 3 Favorite Games?

Names and Reasons
(Off-Topic: My 300th post! Hurray for me!)
This topic may have been done before, but I'd rather not ressurect a dead one. No use beating a dead horse.
This topic is for you to list your top 3 favorite games (duh!) and the reason(s) for it. One thing I must ask for is no one line reasons like "it t0t4lly r0x0rz t3h h4x0rz!" or any other "elite"-speak response. I'd really like constructive comments on why the game(s) appeal to you so much. One last thing, please PLEASE try not to jack this topic. Once a topic gets jacked it usually dies a few posts later. With that, let us commence!

Comments
Fallout: Does everthing it says on the box "Fallout: A Post Nuclear War Role Playing Game".
System Shock 2: At times I need a good laxtive.
Half-Life: Need I say more?
Devil May Cry 2 - pure action, good fun if yer in need of FPS break.......
Half-Life - class game, got me into FPS's on PC, loved the multiplayer, and the mods are great (this a prime example)
Serious Sam 2 - great game for lan nothing better for the job, altho, with 3 of us, on easy mode, its easy enough to complete. Great break from the liner Do this Do that games...
1.Halflife-Because of its modability and just plain ol' niftiness!
2.Exile 2-listed second because PC-users can play it. This very awesome game is written by a shareware developer who deserves much food for costing me many many many hours of my life playing the exile trilogy (used to have bad graphics but great gameplay, now has decent graphics and great gameplay).
3.Escape Velocity: Override-my personal favorite of the three EV's released, Override had all the fun of EV:1, and a bucket of crawfish, too. I enjoyed the new customized ships, as well as the many different races that were in EV:O. The only huge problem was the fact that the Enemy ship intelligence still isn't that great. Still a great Shareware game, much better than most commercial software.
Half-Life II - N/A (Will prob rock my *** off)
Half-Life III - N/A (Same here as the second one)
*Do not evade the swear filters. They're there for a reason.*
2) Half-Life - Best FPS experience I've ever had.
3) Starcraft - Best RTS out there.
It's all the fps i need... in one i want team-play ? i play NS, i want strategy ? i play NS, i want action ? i play NS or DMC....
2. Baldurs gate series
For being the roleplaying game that is so "open"
3. Neverwinter nights
For taking the forgotten realms to 3d and the modules are starting to get good, so it isn't all hack'n'slash...
Final Fantasy VII - Except for the funky people models this is still worth playing. Hell, once I get through XS I might play it again.
Free Lancer - Space is the place. Put me in a ship I can customize with guns and i'm happy. Plus online play is free, so that makes it better then E&B.
StarCraft - Protoss. Terra. Zerg. Lots of possibilities. 'Nuff said.
and hats off to Speed for not mentioning big titles.
[edit] FFX lost to FFVII by about 2 points. VII has Sephiroth as the bad guy while X has...some dead guys.
2] Project 0 - The only game to ever properly scare the crap outta me.
3] Final Fantasy X - Gorgeous graphics, good characters, great plot.

Try System Shock 2.
Its hard to find and its soo scary I paniced and hid a lift for 5mins. (seriously)
I had my 1st savegame at 25hours of gameplay (depending on your charcter and luck and fear).
All the quotes keep comming into my mind....
Look at you hacker,
A ppppaathetic creature of meat and bone....
panting and sweating as you run through my corridors....
how can you challange a perfect imortal machin......
*shuders*
Its a work of art.

Oh god yeah. I +love+ that game. But as far as being scary goes, it still doesn't hold a candle to Project 0, in my mind at least. Hmm, i'm thinking i need to replace FFX with SS2 now.... ahh buggerit, i'll leave it be.
*silence the dischord*
*i'm sorrrryyyyyyyyyyy*
DoA3: Another great fighting game, I'm a big fan of fighting games, and besides having awesome gameplay and a perfect counter system, there are 14 other things that make this game stand out.
Tokimeki Check In: An absolute gem in the genre of Bishoujo games, perfect voice acting, origional plot lines, a plethora of characters, and beautiful(in more ways than one) art make this game the top of the already great list of games done by CROWD. (if you happen to like those sorts of games.)
mmmmm... breasts.
Those kinda games, to me, are boring, i never read the text. And the only one i ever +DID+ want to read the text (the GBA Chobits adventure) it was all in japanese so it made me cry.
Although I really like that you can smash the opponents out of a building in DoA3.

Am I the only one who cares about story anymore? I dont' know, I just like those kind of games. Like an interactive anime. But that's just one man's opinion.

The problem with games like "Tokimeki Check In" is that there is no story really. And we all know the ending. Since there's only one +real+ reason us guys get these games

Most people think that, and usually they'd be right, but if you find the right games (certain other CROWD titles come to mind) they are actually very well done and are rather in-depth into the characters and how you react with them. And there is always a "loser ending".
System Shock 2
Fallout 2
Star Control 2
Doom ][
Half-Life
Master of Orion 1 & 2
FF 3
reasons and more maybe later
MDK 1: This game got me into PC gaming so I have to give it props.
3rd would have to go by genre.
RPG: Morrowind, Im still exploring that huge island. And Ive played it for at least a 100 hours total or more so far.
Space Sim: Freelancer, Like Morrowind you can go anywhere and do anything, explore, find cool things that adds history to story. (Starlancer will add lots more to history of story, cant wait)
RTS: Command and Conquer: Red Alert, second PC game I ever bought. I must have played that game for countless hours as well.
Favorite Mods
NS
DoD,
Battlefield 1942's Desert Combat
Morrowind: Years and years of gameplay, plus all the cool mods that you can make. I thought Daggerfall was good. This improved on it 10 times over.
Deus Ex: Far better than Half Life SP IMO. One of the few games that I played through more than once.
Civ II/III: Strategy gaming at it's finest.
I know this is one more than 3 but....Betrayal at Krondor was pretty damn good too. Inventive combat system, nice use of rations and resting plus the Mordrel Word Chests = top notch RPGing.
Oh and FF7, Golden Sun and ChronoTrigger too.
agreed i like my xbox with DOA3 in it
STARLANCER IS ALREADY OUT.
it came out years ago. Go to EB and buy it, about 1.99$
2) Half-life - Best single player so far, possibly excepting halo. Also includs so many wonderful mods eg NS
3) Halo - So much fun, in many ways. Running aliens over with a tank....ahh bliss
Half-Life
Planetside
1.) Natural Selection (1.1)
2.) Desert Combat (Battlefield mod)
3.) GTA 3 = Vice City
Meh favorite PC games.
Half-Life - You know the drill
Frontier: First Encounter - The third and best game in the Elite series, (Elite was the first 3d game FYI) 100% open ended almost RPG like space sim with multiple galaxys to explore and an incredibly realistic flight model, (I'm pretty sure it has yet to be topped), realistic solar systems, with awesome combat, each solar system and each planet/station in that system is unique and has its own major exports/imports, diff prices and quantity of everything which changes dynamically, its own governemnt and faction, plus laws and whatnot, plus tons of cool mercenary missions and whatnot. Makes Freelancer look like cheese.
Morrowind: I didn't think Bethesda could top Daggerfall but they did, countless MW adventures and mis-adventures are permanantly ingrained in my brain.
Herzog Zwei. Still have no idea what the name means, but it was a great rts/overhead shooter combo for the genesis.
NHL 2003, playstation 2. There's nothing better than prepping for a night out with a couple of stiff drinks and a few borderline violent games of hockey. Except, of course, if you and your teammate not only tie the biggest poo-talkers in the room in the last 50 seconds, but then go on to win in the final 7.
Half Life - Of course, it is the most revolutionary FPS IMO. Even without all the mods, and multiplayer mode, it was still a great game!
Fallout (both 1 and 2) - Like some one said before "a RPG set in a post nuclear apocolyptic world" , and if the future was anything cool, it would be exactly like the fallout universe!
Sam and Max Hit the Road - The FUNNIEST game ever IMO. Every bit of dialouge is pure gold. So many quotable insults and one liners, and the story line is the perfect way to pull it all together. What other game has you "traipsing" ("oh, traipsing, sounds painful") across the U.S., visiting cheesy roadside attractions in search of a freak shows missing bigfoot and a giraffe neck girl country/western wannabe from scranton. What other game has a possessed outhouse? This game is opure gold, I reccomend it for anybody who has heard of it and hasn't played it (you might need to order it from LUcas Arts, but its cheap), and for those of you who have never heard of it, then your either
A: A n00b
b: too young
Can't wait for the sequal!
tribes1. yeah thats right. the first open lanscaped fps, and my favorite part ist aht it is almost 90% open source and that lets modders go nuts http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~saf/ironspher...wtopic.php?t=28
that link is to a tribes RPG hack&slash conversion, complete with everquestish character development, its not very fun but it is truly amazing what they did with the tribes engine.
gta, any of them, wonderful wonderful, its not everyday you get to drive 150mph down the sidewalk in a stolen convertible.
morrowind is nice in that ive played it for two years without seeing half of the possibilities, but the interface is so clunky that its annoying.
