1.1 Gorge Sucking Questions

HungryHippoHungryHippo Join Date: 2003-01-09 Member: 12053Members
Just got a few things i was wondering about 1.1 gorge node sucking.

1. Can more than one gorge suck a node at a time?

2. Is it possible for those anoying people ( the kind that go gorge to get fade quicker in 1.04) to go gorge and just sit sucking a node till they get fade/onos or whatever without helping the team out?

3. If they suck too long do they explode?

( I personally think 3 would be a good solution to 2 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> )

If anyone that knows could answer id apreciate it, cheers <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    well to answer #2, if they went gorge to get res quicker in 1.04, they weren't doing anything for your team AND hurting your res income at the same time.

    Now, they'll just be doing nothing for your team but not hurting your res income <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    1. [EDIT: SHOOT SORRY!!!! I was wrong! Look at Hida's post below!]
    2. Unfortunetly yes, although this might be a good thing for your team, because you no longer will be taking res from your team. It could be a wise tactic for one guy to rush to fade/onos, to help out your team. There will always be the jerks though. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
    3. While that would be hilarious, and the idea of randomly exploding gorges brings a smile to my face, nope, sorry.

    i thought multiple gorges sucking from one node just split the res? ie: 2 gorges, each gets half the res.. 3 gorges, each gets third. this is what it used to be? has been changed? apologies for me being out of sync <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    hmm, not exactly ...
    *normal gorg* (gorg that want to do something for the team) would make an res tower, so 'sucking' the res nozzle and saveing for fade/onos hurts the income a bit ... especially at the beginning, because the "unnormal gorg* ( <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> ) won't make rt

    i think the real question is how fast it goes.. lil faster than res? lil slower? 1 res per hour? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ?

    i believe sucking is a little quicker than a res node.. but i'm open to correction

    Sucking speed is related to the amount of rp you have. The more rp you have the less you get. After 35ish rp, sucking starts to get slow. Sucking vs nodes is like candy vs hearty stew. Sure that sugar will give you a rush, but won't fill much and leave you drained later on. Nodes are more filling if slower to chew and digest and as a bonus you can share with your teammates!

    Gorges can share a node but sucking speed is halved so it's usually not a good idea. And yes a gorge can suck and suck and go Onos, it's time consuming and doesn't help the team out much. However even so, it's better than 1.04 lamer gorge as you can have several viable gorges at once to help make up the "sucking" gorge. We're still in the process of finding a balance.

    Actually a normal gorge will suck for a while, plop down a few chambers that he needs (upgrades/ocs) then put up a resource tower, because you can't suck on the node after you cap it.

    If you guys are interested, here is a chart on how many ressources you can suck within a fixed time:

    15 seconds: 15 res
    30 seconds: 26 res
    60 seconds: 41 res
    120 seconds: 69 res

    errrrrr, that can`t be right, can it?

    i thought the res suck to begin with was 0.4 res a sec.

    so 15 res would be. 37 seconds.

    proove me wrong if i am.

    More than one gorge sucking on a node? Kinky <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    But anyway, how would that physically be possible? There'd be some res leakage for sure...

    Yes you can onos pretty quick, but an onos without any upgrades is crap, even to 0/0 lmg marines.

    This gorg sucking adds a bit of more diversity to both sides:

    First this adds the value of everyone being gorgs at the beginning with out slowing the res pool, however, one must think that this is a strategy game so the whole team can't only gorg or it will be very difficult to win. These additions to the alien race makes them more a teamwork goal, just like the marines as no longer will each skulk run off on its own. The alien team must now decide who will be what and when for the benefit of the whole team.

    But I hope this new trait of gorg sucking won't make everyone wanting to be gorg because that will really hurt the res pool and the overall team.
