Got any yourself?
Hold use on armory
Took awhile for me to learn this, but you can hold use on the armory instead of having to keep pressing "use".

Heal spray and build
I take no credit for this and found it recently, but you can heal spray and build something at the same time.

Lerk spikes don't drop
Most should already know this but while the lerk spikes apparantely drop in the image, they don't as far as damage is concerned, so aim for the marine!

Muting in 1.04
If someone is spamming the mic, bind a key to toggleeditips, push tab, and click on the sound icon next to their name.

Recycling only gives res when building is destroyed
You only get the money fo recycling when the building is disappearing. For skulks chewing on nozzles, you have to recycle soon to get the money back or they will destroy it.

Holding spacebar while flying
As a lerk, if you hold jump you will 'glide' and your energy will refill.

Gorge spit can blow up mines
You have to aim above them if they are on the ground, and aim in front of the laser if they are beside them.

Building the 2nd nozzle in Holoroom
Stand on the railing as a gorge above the nozzle and build it there. I don't know how to build the marine one though.

Hold duck as a skulk to kill crouched marines

Press duck, jump, and then use blink at a flat wall for a more effective blink.

Paralyze is hit scan, in that it fires a projectile that instantly hits its target. Just aim and shoot.

Don't try biting marines in the airlock vent in nancy
I've never successfully done it or seen anyone do it, holding duck or otherwise. Hit boxes are a disaster. Please do not exploit this invulnerability.

Once again I don't take any credit for any of these (some I found out by my self but I'm sure others have before me). If I think of any others I'll post them, got any yourself?

Nope! Didn't find anything on my list there. I suppose you could consider this a lesson in the 'basics' as you put it, I'm sure there are some that don't know everything on this list.

How should I have any tips I don't know? Sorry, but...

    k, here goes:

Hold ctrl to eat marines in vents.

    Lerks spikes hitscan too.
You may have to lead to compensate for ping though. Your mileage may vary.

QUOTE

Press duck, jump, and then use blink at a flat wall for a more effective blink.

Blinking in heigh-ceiling areas is also easier, especially if you're going up.

If you have to fall far as a fade, blink down to avoid falling damage.

Parasite does not have infinite range

    Also:

Note that this will not allow you to build any faster than normal. It only allows you to build one thing and heal another.

Perhaps that should be reworded to "Recycling doesn't give res if building is destroyed before it finishes recycling" or something like that.

    WELDING DOES NOT BUILD STRUCTURES

Parasite does some damage. For example, if you're running through a vent and see it's blocked by a grating you can break it open with a couple of parasites before you get to it. Saves valuable seconds!

Parasite also operates switches, so you can shoot a door switch as you run towards it, or open/close it from a distance.

Gorge-spit can open some welded vents (e.g. the ones on ns_bast that close diagonally).

pariste clicks buttons. so does gorge spit sometimes.

more ammo makes u heavy and slows down ur speed, big diffrence if u take lmg jp or hmg full ammo and jp.

heal spray has a big distance.

all in all, all very valid good points that are things left to be discovered in NS

Shouldn't this topic be in the newbs forum? I mean, most of us know this and its kind of oriented more toward the new players of NS. Someone should phase this over.

BTW, if you want to know how to build the second nozzle in holoroom on hera. You have do to what the gorge does. Let me elaborate further. When you select the res nozzle, it will show a green circle of where you can place the res nozzle. How to place that nozzle is by aiming your cursor with the res nozzle attached all the way to the right of the last part of the green circle. Basically you are placing it on the very tip of the green circle on the right. This will work, trust me, you just have to keep on trying till you get it.

I will probably create a demo to show you guys later.

Leap will kill any marine no matter what vent their in.

leap does 500 damage on average if you have an fps of 85.

2 leaps can kill a fully upgraded HA marine.

leap only begins to cause damage .5 seconds after the leap so dont use leap over and over really fast. atleast wait 1 second before leapign agian.

adrenilne and carapce in a leaping skulks best friend.

You've seen the rules before joining the forum right?

    - Remain friendly and civil at all times. Be helpful when possible. Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

You're being the complete opposite of that. It would have been alot simpler to have simply turned away if you learned nothing from this thread.
And as it stands, they are tips and tricks for the fresh NS players! And it's obvious a good/pro player needs no tips or tricks.

Isn't it "toggleeditps" to mute? If that's a typo up there you might want to correct it.

(hmm, I thought of a couple of things to add when I hit reply, but now I've forgotten them. Ho-hum.)

well done on the tips, they are often things that even ppl playing for a while ask.

    oh, uhm.

OCs stacking CAN block the OC below it.

upgrading stuff is bugged in eclipse hive.

if you are on a wall, and want to fall, hold crouch.

holding walk when a skulk reduces your walking sound.

you can stay dead by holding fire after you die.

a tfac has INFINITE vertical range. for example, if you put a tfac on the bottom of via, under the walkway, you could build turrs on the walkway, and vice versa.

floor mines often do NOT go off when an onos walks over it, due to high hitbox (?).

    skulks don't take falling damage

weapons and equip initially dropped by comm stay forever, if they are dropped by other players, it's 30 seconds.

when you charge as onos, don't keep pressing charge, just crouch and hold forward, it sometimes doesn't work on rines.

a hive heals itself at 2 per second.

weapon upgrades upgrades turret fire as well.

    upgrading tfac increases its armor

upgraded tfacs cannot be recylced, same with sieges and CCs

be careful of dropping your structs too close or on weird geometries, they WILL sink

sieges IN powersilo hive (ns_nothing) will NOT kill OTs up top on the ledges. you need to siege from outside.

you cannot siege waste handling hive (ns_tanith) from research labs.

there is a 64 web limit for each map.

hrm, thats all the tips and tricks i can think of.

gj killswitch (and yeah, perhaps it should be moved to New Player Forum?)

Didn't know any of this, thanks. I was thinking about putting it in New Players forum but that can get overlooked, and I think there are at least some people who would benefit from this that don't read the New Player forum.

    2 more:

The welded off res in caged CAN be capped as a gorge, just run up to the grate and build it, it'll go through the wall.

Quick thing: When building movements, try and put 2 in one hive and 1 in the other. Build 1 and then use it to get to your 2nd. Sounds obvious but a lot of people miss it.
