Splitting Map Forums?

please post your thoughts
Ive been wondering for the last month or so why isnt this forum split up into 2 forums?

I know the rules say that people shouldnt be asking general mapping questions but its never been enforced. (and im glad for that) Problem is that the forums are getting clogged with them.

One for posting maps, and screenshots for people to comment on
Second for general mapping questions

I don't really think this forum gets an inordinate amount of traffic. While that might make sense from an organizational standpoint, threads stick around for quite a while on the first page as it is.

Well, somone should gather the question that mostly comes up in one topic and stick it so people don't need to ask about it.

At the moment the mapping forum aren't getting a mayor stream post making very silent if you splitted it

I'd say don't split it, since its goes quite slowly as it is, although yes, from an organizational viewpoint it would be a good idea.

Well, when I'm done with my map I'm gonna gather up all my questions and put it in a big thread with all the answers ^.^
    and that's gonna be big

I have only once seen this forum with over 1 page of unraed threads. Maby I read it too much but I don't really think that it is such a big problem.

well the issue is that there are too many questions about this and that. Should these fill the board instead of people showing their hard earned work? Or maybe just more moderation to keep the general mapping questions out?

I 'tracked' the mapping forum so I get every new topic as a seperate email. If it is a topic for a new map with pics I usually also track that thread, to know when the other comes up with new pics. That way noones hard work will pass me unseen
We should all do it like that... I think. Why not?

Actually, the forum FAQ says "This forum is -not- for questions about how to map. This forum is for questions about how to use the NS specific entities, NS specific design specifications, and NS concepts within a map."

It doesn't say not to ask mapping questions, cause if no one could ask mapping questions, there wouldn't be any ns maps, and some of the better mappers in here would have gotten frustrated and left. I kind of like having it all in one forum, because I usually find answers to my problems already here, and like people said, it moves slowly as it is.
