the machinery in the middle behind the grating spins around to from the propulsion of the water, creating power for the rest of the level. There will be a control panel somewhere that will stop the machinery, locking doors, and other such things.
marine will die for sure because he has no way to get out...
and:
maybe you should take another texture for the top?
and maybe you should align the light texture, think it's not alignt...
whats inside the cage? maybe you can build a little podest where the cage stands on.
the blue lighhting looks much better on the eyes then the green in the old shots

You might want to look into making the brushes for the grate thinner though. It seems like on the left of the center brush in your latest pic you can see the edge of a support that is on one of the butting faces. It's a picky little thing.... but that's about all the commentary i've left to make.

don't you have a graphics card with gamma correction tools, anty?!? this should be standard since 5 years.
most of the cards today also offer a brightness and contrast setting for each color.
Or what about a picture editor that offers these effects?
(I used my graphics drivers to make the colors of my old monitor some more friendly. They were contrastless, blueish and dark <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> . Fortunately I now have a nice cheap 19" monitor with sufficient gammut.
Ive added the elevated area on the left with a railing, some grey pipes, and a res node. I think its looking rather plain. any ideas on some ways to add detail to it?

ive "neatly labeled" everything that you can interact with so far. Now im going to tell you why you would want to.
Say the marines take control of the hive and the surrounding area, they would then press the button which starts the turbine. The turbine powers the main doors in the area. because the main doors are now activated, the vents and emergency doors (the emergency doors are have smaller hallways and take longer to get through all of it) would close as they are for emergency use, the emergency being that the turbine is no longer powering the area. Basically making the area more marine-friendly.
Now lets say the aliens took control of the area. They would press the button, which turns off the turbine, which closes the main doors and opens the emergency doors and vents, possibly switching to dimmer red lights. making the area more alien friendly.
**EDIT** note that you cannot see all the emergency doors and main doors as they are not implemented yet, as well as the red lights.
