<div class="IPBDescription">Unnamed as of yet</div>hello, ive been debating whether to make a NS map for some time now, and i finally decided to give it a go. Here are some screenshots of what i made yesterday and the day before, any comments would be appreciated. the gamma ramp is not shown in these screenshots, and i do not own photoshop, so they look slightly different in-game.

Very nice shots indeed - I especially like the big bulbous housing in the 2nd to last shot. In fact, the map seems to have a very 'techno-gothic' architecture going on. Almost a Warhammer 40K style. Looks great.
Can I make fun of you using WinME, now that you're on our forum?

how will background music for maps be handled, is there a large playlist of mp3 songs that will be played in any map at random or at the discression of the player, or can i specify background music for my map. You see, I have gained permission from a certain skilled electronic musician to use any of his songs that are not already in a commercial product.
As for the map... It looks great, but you could probably use a little more contrast in the lighting. As in light against dark.
architecture looks good though. maybe some lighting contrast, (more light_sposts, varying brightness colours, some shadowy areas, etc)
in the first picture, it looks as you have only used one texture, and placed that on the ceiling too. This makes the picture very dull and predictable. Try to change textures in your areas.
Also, try to align your textures better. in the second pic on the ceiling i can see the textures misaligning, and this is what ruins maps.
Also, although i'm not so sure in this, but you can use colored lightning more. White lightning with a little bit of color invluence gets really static imo. I like your last and second picture the most, and they both have yellow lightning. Don't think you are overdoing colors, i think color lightning make maps really beautiful (look at ekajs map, its really beautifull because of all the nice lightning.... (and the architecture, and texturing, but the first thing you see is the lightning))...
[edit] i looked at ekajs map again, and he uses almost the same textures as you, only he changes them once in a while, scales them down and up, and he uses different colors. I think his map is full of atmosphere and detail, something which your map misses right now. [/edit]
but i'm not a mapper and the top mappers didn't gave you any real critism so feel free to ignore.

And nice pictures!

yea i will definitely tweak the lighting and texturing, but right now im sorta in building mode, making the architexture of the rooms and then just slapping some textures on it and moving on. next week i will tweak the stuff.
The second pic's room is very beautiful. Although I think that the lighting should be more diverse. Meaning that it should be seperated more and sticking out in a couple of places.
The third pic is a very nice hallway. However my thoughts are that you should make some columms comming out from the walls.
THE LAST ONE IS AWSOME!!!
Overall I think you should consider the fact that one guideline of NS maps is for them to "feel" dark but not be dark.

shots 2 and 4 are very nice architecturally, but need some lighting/tex tweaks... also im not too fond of the last shot...
thank you for the comments, they will be taken into consideration.
