Ns_test status update and *name the map* contest!

<div class="IPBDescription">Free toy prize inside</div>Well its been a little bit since my last update, and now I've gotten most of my map structurally complete! At least, complete enough that I'm confident I'll make the deadline :D

*ALSO* As you no doubt have noticed, my map has very originally been called ns_test all this time. This is just the name I use for all my maps till I name them heh. The problem is, I'm quite an unoriginal ####### when it comes to name (doombank, armstech, heh, nothing original :P)

So I've decided to hold a contest for all of you to pick a name! The name everyone (including myself) likes the best will be picked and the winner will recieve... just the satisfaction of knowing their name was picked above others :P In addition to my unorigionality, I'm also cheap!

I decided to do away with teh bast-imitation hallway, as I felt that it really wasn't a good idea to use them, both from a gameplay pov and an artistic one. So now I just have these bast-inspired halls instead :)

The lighting is pretty bad on a lot of these, that's the part I'm still tweaking. As always, comments are always appreciated! And remember to suggest a name for the bsp too!

    I am bit bad on names aswell. But if you have any background for the map the name wouldn't be to hard to figure out maybe ?. Try thinking about what the map looks like hehe.     Looks pretty nice, I like the orange/red corridor particularly. My suggestion for a name is ns_dominion.

    Hmm I say, NS_Seth, named after the Eyptian god of the desert.  It looks like it's in a desert, and has that gritty "sandy" feel to it.

    I've been complimented on my map naming before, and I myself even have a slight amount of respect for my naming conventions. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    I try to think of 1 word to describe the map, whether it be architecturally, gameplay mechanics-wise, or even a general attitude I want to convey. A simple word, usually. Then I visit my good friend <a href="http://dictionary.com" target="_blank">http://dictionary.com</a> and toss that word in, check thesaurus, and go. Find the one that looks and sounds the coolest but still maintains the original meaning, and there you go! Granted, I don't do this for ALL of them, but Faction, Hysteron Proteron (which later became Valor), Phreneticism, and a few of my in-development maps all received this treatment.

    By the way, stay away from ns_kara and ns_valhalla. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    Yah, I see a pattern emerging, lets try some advice instead.

    Now the way I normally do this is to go looking around mythology sites until I see a word I like. Check its meaning (always a good idea to avoid looking like a fool later when you realise your map is named after the Celtic God of skimpy thongs, or such) and stick ns in front of it. Voila, a name. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Balder the Good is a god from the Norse mythology. I think it would fit with a map based on an outpost of 'good' being attacked by the aliens, or twig of the mistletoe if you like. If you have never heard the story of balder, read about his death (which is the most interesting part) at the site below.
