By not releasing your map. Thats the only sure-fire way of preventing it...... unless they get a trojan on your computer and get it without you knowing..... I guess there is no real way <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

I don't think you should worry about it. WinBSP produces a very bad, crude version of a map file anyway. It looks like the entire level is carved; unsuitable for anything.

    recompile with -onlyents.
Note that you can still view them in QuArK.

How big is your map? I remember reading somewhere that Winbspc crashes with medium-large maps, which would explain why all the Official maps crash, try to decompile a custom map, only a big one.

im not at all sure but i think that including wad files into the bsp stops winbsp from being able to decompile then...i haven't tested this or anything but its like something i've noticed...

compile your map with -wadinclude when winbsp tries to decompile the map it cannot get past the texture information and crashes to desktop.

I'm impressed with your map compiling guides for CS and NS. I have rarely seen guides that lenghty and detailed.

Definitively something for me to check out for doing my first HL maps (for NS off course !).

    P.S. :
however, I did find that your CS guide is missing some pictures in the "Counter Strike Entity Overview" section.

thanks for the nice words on my guides - i pulled about 6 gigs a month at action realm (be4 server crash) and i think it was because of them

i have decompiled maps i have mad with wad include, then only thing stoping me from rshiping (if i wanted to) was i did not have the right textures

I have decomlied all the offical cs maps, all the half life ones, all the gun mans ones, op4 ones (blue shift must use rip ent as well - as i can't decompile these) SHHH I KNOW ABOUT MORAL

so size has no issue for me with winbspc

i'll use rip ent, is that import or export?

(i use ryan gregs batch compile)
