What is bob?

<div class="IPBDescription">Do a favor for moleculor!</div>I just saw the spraypaints on readyroom.org, and it occurred to me that it would be wonderful if someone could make a spraypint that simply read, "What is Bob?". Nothing else - no pictures or any other text. It would be a great way to spread curiosity throughout the HL community. If enough people see "What is Bob", they are bound to start asking what that means, and word should spread like alien crud on a derelict ship. ;)

He seems to be asleep or something, I've noticed a distinct lack of Moleculor posts today. Maybe something as simple as "What is Bob?" and a link to the site below it. NS will take the world by storm, in a bloodless coup de' etat. (sp?)

NOOOOOOOOOOooooooo!! You guys are missing the point with the "What is Bob?" thing! No graphics (not even a silhouette), no other text, and no URL! The whole idea is to get people guessing. If left to their own curiosity, word will spread faster than if you provide them with the info too easily (like with a URL). Also, "<b>What</b> is Bob?" lends more of a curious angle to it.

Ah well. If I wanted to do it my way, I should have made the spray myself. :/

Well, I will do one of my rare partial-disagreements with Relic, and say that I think the spray should be just 'What is Bob?' (still agreeing), have no silhouette (still agreeing), and the URL on the bottom (finally breaking away). I found that (using the nifty SilverFox sprays all weekend) people would often stop and look at the tag, but never ask me what it was about. This way you won't have to count on their interaction, but the URL gets out onto the street.

Similar to mLife <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I'd do it myself, but I never bothered to find/read a tutorial on making a color spray decal. I know that there are certain requirements, but I don't know what they are.

The certain requirements are Wally :-D

There's some limit to the area of it (96*96, 128*64, are ok), and if you want to it be transparent parts of it need to be absolute blue (0,0,255)

Then just get Wally, and it has its own menu option "HL Color Decal Wizard"!!! Just show it you HL folder, whick mod you want to put it in, and then the souce (clipboard, file on HD, etc) and it will whip up a pldecal.wad file (i think you still have to save is tho, it didnt automatically put it in my nstr folder)

And then you're done.

Now, as good of an idea it is to just have "What is Bob?" by itself, it really wouldn't cause as much of a stir as you'd think. Someone looks at it, thinks for a minute, and then forgets about it by next round. And they don't have any URL to visit to reinforce the idea.

Sure, if you had a hundred people spraying "What is Bob?" all over every server with more than 3 people on it, it might have an effect, but until you have those 100 people a-spraying, people aren't going to care who/what bob is, especially in the middle of a CS match.

Anyway, my spray(s) should be appearing sometime to night on RR.org, so you can see the new ones for yourself.
