Gametypes

Are there any special gametypes planned for NS other than a standard Aliens vs Marines?  The FAQ mentions the possibility of Marines vs Marines and Aliens vs Aliens but other than that will there be any specialized gametypes like capturing flags or planting bombs or destroying certain structures?

    In later betas, yes.  The first version will have nothing more than "wipe out the other team."

    We haven't decided upon any other game modes yet, but it's definitely a possibility for future releases.  There have been a ton of interesting scenarios discussed in the Ideas forum, including escapes, countdowns, seek and destroy, colonist rescues, and lots more.

    I word of warning though...  I wouldn't want this to become CS... colonist rescue kinda souns like that....  maybe we could couple some of these like colonist rescue/escape(like rescue the colonists then get yourself outta there).  That would take skill, and be fun.

    Dang. No CS? I was hoping for a new mode where we all sit in dark corridors and shoot each other with one shot-kill sniper weapons until the timer runs out.

    i was so looking forward to that but it would be kewel if u could be the colonist a 3rd team and when ur the colonist ur job is to either escap or wait for marines and if an alian kills u (while otuside an area ur supposed 2 be in) then u go back to the area and are stuck there and if a marine comes in u cant go untell after a time so they could get screwed or u could wat do u think?     I think the Colonist one would be cool if the marines were the colonists and they had to find their weapons and armor and such... like for one map u could have the aliens invade a bigass cargo ship that conveniently has an armory that is unfortunately somewhat far away from the huddled colonists... That would be soooo cool! Wouldnt it be cool?! Then it could have a really cool map name like ns_gigasuperhyperleagueofatomicdeathcolonists or something... and i'd play it!

    what about putting in civilians for bonuses in maps, like the aliens get bonuses for killing civiies, while the marines get bonuses for rescuing them, while the territorial resource battle is still going on.

    Oh! Oh! Spiffy idea! A gametype where marines get a fix on a spore colony (or wever aliens travel through space. And they haul ### to the ship that the spore is headed toward. Then have it play like a regular NS map, but have a LIVING WORKING CREW! The aliens can kill them, but if the marienes get to them first, the building of a resource node will go faster if the crew is still alive. You might want the aliens to t a head start on the spawn to make it fair. whaddya think?

    IF you include any style of mission that was mentioned in this thread including the word colonists, i.e. you are the colonists, rescueing colonists, etc., than you gonna make NS like CS, and so screw up the game.
    I am heavily against it.

    At the moment, I'm waiting for NS beta 1, I don't care about other playmodes now.

    well... it COULD become like CS and yeah,  I don't just want another counter-strike clone... But some other gamemodes would be cool, a nice change from just the standard, although that should be fun enough <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> but yeah, nothing that would delay the first release for now, exept maybe the flashlight ^.^

    'Kill and eat the colonists' doesn't sound much like CS, though.
