<div class="IPBDescription">Take out knife...or reload?</div> When you need to reload, and you've just emptied all your ammo, pistol and primary, do you take out the knife and slice and dice? Or do you run as fast as your little legs can carry you, hope the skulk isn't biting your ****, and reload, turn around, and blast the enemy?
Personally, I run and reload, and pray the skulk doesn't get me first.

Ususally, if you have emptied your whole clip with pistol and lmg, there is more than only 1 skulk around. In such a situation it is better to knife because you won't have any time for reload (the chance is very low that none of them will hit you).
On the other hand, if there is only one skulk who has full health it is better to reload the pistol/lmg and dodge his bites. Works well in larger rooms with many possiblities, such as Cargo on Tanith.
Still, if you know that the skulk has only very little health left it is advisable to use the knife.
Best case is when your commander starts spamming health, then you will have enough time to reload the lmg , even if there are several skulks. No use for a knife in such a situation.

when my LMG is out i just whip out knife and yelll AAAAAAAAARG!
or if I put 4 bullets into the skulk with the pistol then I will break out the knife, b/c one slash will kill him

I find with the knife, if you're all out and you've switched to it, you're in no position to kill another skulk if you do manage to knife him... both your ranged weapons are out of ammo.
You actually have a few options when this happens but you need to be fast enough.
If you are reloading and you have ammo in another gun you can abort the reload by switching and then use that weapon.
If you haven't fired all the rounds in your gun and you're reloading, you can swtich to your other gun, then either use it or swtich back to the first gun and finish up that ammo.
Example, say I have a welder and an HMG. I fire about 50 rounds and kill a skulk and start reloading. Another skulk ambushes me and i switch to knife, then back to HMG and fire the remaining 100 rounds.
Never switch to welder unless you have no other option, the time it takes to get it going is way too long.
When all else fail, throw your guns at the aliens, it gets a good laugh from everyone.
If I don't got my sweet jp, I'll kill the skulk, the hard way, with my stainless steel knife. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

When fighting against a experienced skulk, well, I pray and press my "I surrender!!!"-button.

I knife if I'm close, but if it's any distance I just try and get the reload. I'm not a very good marine, so you might not want to take my advice.
Primary, Sidearm, reload pistol, by then situation is ok so i then reload primary==== phew

Hence if there are multiple skulks I bust out the knife unless I know I can get away.

I only knife fades if they're distracted and I'm not blocking anybody's shots. Sometimes this means they are clawing away at a building, sometimes it means we are doing the dance outside base, with my support coming soon.
If I'm toeing it with a fade then I dodge and reload. If we do the dance more damage can be done if I survive long enough. If they are fleeing then obviously a ranged weapon is helpful.
