I sort of liked it. It was a simple straight-forward story, it had a decent soundtrack, and the animation was pretty good.

There were the obligatory parts where anyone who's seen a Disney movie knows what will happen next, but that still didn't spoil the movie for me at all. Also, the 3D-rendered scenes were actually pretty nice - they weren't excessively detailed or complex simply because it wasn't necessary.

It's not a buyer, as far as I'm concerned. .....well, maybe if it was a cheap used copy in good condition, then I might buy it.

I'm trying to remember anything about it - I only watched it two years ago... and the only thing that comes to mind is that it was terribly unmemborable.

Heh, sorry, still no ringing bells. I don't know what's wrong with me, I can usually recite the scripts of good movies... wait, could it be that this one wasn't good?! Heh heh, just kidding.

I loved it.

The main char was a little of a wuss but it was still a cool movie...then again, I do have a predilection to *end of human race* scenario's. pretty good animation too.

Meh, it was okay I guess. Probably the best western animation that was out at the time.

I'm still eagerly waiting for Wonderful Days to come out. Check out the teaser trailer here, (I think it's better than the actual trailer), and you'll know it'll be sweet. Comparing it to Titan A.E, it's a huge evolutionary leap... like comparing Doom to Half-life 2.

The most I remember very well is that at the end they made a skulk-friendly planet named Planet Bob.

(My apologies to anyone too new to NS to get the reference at all)

I thought it rocked. The only things marring it were the "let's all be hip and have a cruddy late-90s guitar song in the soundtrack" thing and the Don Bluth "rubberman" animation (maybe that one's hard to explain, but it seems like he can'e bear to have characters standing still, or moving in any realisic fashion - everything is exaggerated).

Those bat-like aliens (on the planet with the gas sphere things) were the business, though. They made the film for me.

• RPG_JssmfulhudRPG_Jssmfulhud Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4006Members
Let me put it this way... The movie didn't have a really awesome story, but which movie does? LOTR? Pleaseeeee... Matrix? Hehe, not in this life... And so on...

As for the formularic approach to everything, all the movies have it also... There are really no original ideas out there...

as for titan A.E never seen it don't wanna see it as it looks very rubbish, also stitch wasn't mischevous as he had nothing to destroy, he was designed to destroy citys, on Hawia theren't any and he wasn't designed to do anything else, hence he wasn't mischevous

You're both wrong, the best disney movie ever was Cinderella because Gus-Gus is your God, and Lucifer is Freakin Insane!

And I don't like Elvis, BTW. He's a like a '50s style Eminem(in that he takes "black" music and does it in a sub-par and decidedly "white" way) But that's just one man's opinion.

I never said that LOTR was comparable. I just said that it just another fantasy... Nothing really original... Goblins, dragons, magic, rings, the lot...

and it had two towers in it, how could tolkien have been so inconsiderate for the victims of 11/09!

It was original when it was written I assure you, Tolkien was a prodigy for todays ranks of sweaty d&d geeks.

yeah, Tolkien basically started the whole goblin/orc/elf fantasy. He is very original, and he was so good that everybody started to use the fantasy (there might be some before him though, correct me if Im wrong, but I think he started the craze)

If I'm not mistaken, Tolkien created orcs. Also, pre-Tolkien elves were the rough equivalent of pixies and fairies.

Tolkein didn't create them, he simply used them in the wrong context(or maybe that was hob-goblins)
• RPG_JssmfulhudRPG_Jssmfulhud Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4006Members
Seen Private Ryan and others... Nothing really original there...

As for LOTR, it's just another bunch of monsters, it's not original.

Conclusion: There are (can't be) no really original movies nowadays... All the ideas have been gulped up in the movie maddness... It's all up to you, whether you like it or ont.

Yes, movies have become too commercial... Too much bugging about budgets and less about the story...
