Server Populating Strategies

what worked for you?
A new server has opened in Boston that is running off of a T3 backbone. It is east coast so it is harder to populate. I am wondering from those out there with servers who have populated theirs, what strategies did you find work best.

This weekend the server will have AdminMOD on it and a psychostats. The host is great, no problems what so ever, and no downtime.

Yes but the problem is, we need atleaste 4 people to have a game. Although it would be a good idea to bookmark it. Or even better I can setup an event for this weekend since they open a DOD server aswell this weekend. I can setup like a small tournament for like Sunday. Who ever would be interested in a 8 on 8 tournament go to http://forum.pokeytang.com/ and check up once in a while for News and events. For now just post who ever is interested in participating in this event this SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2003.

Once I get my pc up and running from the crash...
I'll be sure to play there. Its important to get a good group of regs/admins who play there often. A server with 6 regs playing will draw in more pubs... eventually, it'll be packed. Just leave the regs 1 or 2 reserved spots (aka 20/18)

We have a VERY pro Admin base, with experience being admins in games dating back to Player Run UltimaOnline servers. So the admins know how to stay hidden so as not to attract any attention thereby taking away from the effect of the game. We want to keep the players in the atmosphere asthough they are actually there in person.

As for the size of the server, well, we will stick with a 16player server until NS v1.1 comes out and then we will increase the size of the server to 30 players, but make another 16player NS server to take the place of the current NS server.

We may give away some reserved spots to some people at the Tournament on sunday, which will last most of the day.

Get about four friends to play with you, after a while, a few people will probably join, just beg them to become regulars, advertise how you plan to make the server nice etc etc

By the way, glad to hear I'm not the only East Cost Server owner

    Good luck man
